I agree Mid January or early February is a much better time to send them out. Although I sent mine out a long time ago because 45 percent of our guests are OOT. All in all, It's yours and Fh's Wedding DO IT YOUR WAY!

for the STDs you should wait until the New Year to mail them. you are 100% right about them getting mixed up with holiday cards & people mistakenly throwing them out after the holidays.
as for the kids, since u & FH agree on no other kids at the wedding then i think you need to stick to it & unfortunately continue to disagree with FMIL about the issue.
i understand where u are coming from about kids parents & grandparents thinking their shenanigans are cute but its not. i have this argument with mom all the time about my nieces & nephew.
