I would speak to his mom and say something like, 'i know FH said something to you about the ring but I just wanted to let you know that I wish he didn't b/c I was planning on coming to you and discuss it. I'm not 100% sure what he told you but I wanted to let you know that I am very grateful for the ring and love your input, but it's not something that I would have really picked out for myself.'

Something like that.

I am so sorry you are going through all of this! Maybe FH felt like he was doing the right thing by talking to his mom first. BUT he def should have told you before he said anything. What did she say about the ring??

Totally agree about the no comparison thing. Just makes people feel inadequate or upset.

Aww, so sorry..... I agree about talking to her. In some ways, if he's already done it, then you might be able to tell how she is about it by the way she reacts to seeing you. don't avoid her....

And the no-comparison thing is something I definitely agree with (and am struggling with myself!!!)

I remember seeing your ering and the 'man ring.' Explain to her that the man ring is too big for your small hands. Also I believe that with your e ring, you may need a custom made wedding band to wrap around the diamond or if you just want a straight wedding band it would probably have to be something delicate and thin. Explain that to her.
