it sounds like your coworker knows/thinks that you dont like Mr ABC and that short answer from him was him being brusque back to you...? i dont think he used the word correctly if that's what he meant...

Looks like your co-worker misspoke. Reciprocity refers to a mutually advantageous relationships. It doesn't seem like the relationship with ABC is a mutually beneficial one at all.
