Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

What a horrible situation. Maybe she will change her mind when it gets closer to the wedding. Not that I agree with her but she probably doesnt want to leave the baby with someone being so he/she will be so young. Does your church have a crying room? If it does maybe she can bring the baby in there so at least it wont disturb the ceremony. I am so sorry you are going though this.

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

I'm in a similar situation, but not quite as extreme. One of my BM just found out she's pregnant, the baby will be about a month old by the wedding. She has lined up her husband's parents to watch the baby that night, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up bringing the baby to the wedding (ceremony and reception) just because they're SO young at that point. If she's nursing, she'll be feeding every 2 hours... I'm not sure if she'll be able to pump that early, nor is it my position to suggest she try it.

The good news is, when babies are that young, they sleep most of the time. That being said, I'm not sure why they'd WANT to bring the baby to the reception -- the loud noise, drinking.... not really an appropriate environment for a newborn, IMO.

I know you're probably upset about this thing now, but as it gets closer you might not care so much. We also have a strict no-children rule at our wedding, but that's just because we don't want toddlers running around the reception hall (plus, we don't want to pay half price for them so they can nosh on chicken fingers and french fries). Just be wary -- if other guests are told no kids and they see the baby there, you might have to explain to them that the situation was out of your hands. GL

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

She may change her mind as it gets closer to the wedding. See if she can maybe hire someone she knows and trusts - a mothers helper maybe - to watch the baby the whole time - that way she is not consumed with taking care of the baby as well as her mother. Hopefully they will be able to relax a bit and enjoy your wedding.

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

why would anybody want to bring their 1-2 month old baby to a wedding, that is crazy to me. I would never do that, it is too young like you said. ITs a LOOONG day and the baby at that age will want to sleep most of the day, why drag it everywhere at that age I didnt have kids at the wedding either but i can understand an older baby more than this situation. It will be way too noisy for the baby and just too much for the whole day.

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

I think tht is absolutely rediculous. When i had my son, I was very particular about having him around a few ppl let alone in the mist of a huge gala. Some ppl just don't think In any event maybe you need to have FH talk to his sister and mother and explain that the baby will not be allowed and if they don't like it, they need not attend.

I would think she would she would change her mind or at least be a bit nicer about it, if you FMIL wants the kid there so bad SHE should watch them.

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

look im all for kids at a wedding but in this case since they r both in bp i think its a diffrent situation.also infants do need constant care so i can see why u would be upset.do u think the reason they dont want a sitter is because the baby is so small they feel strange leaving it?or is that everyone who could babysit will be attending?

Re: Fsil driving me crazy,

We had our one year old and a two year old nieces at our wedding. I hired a sitter to help the parents out.
