Re: inviting singles w/o a guest

I understand that, and I feel guilty as it is having to invite lots of singles, but otherwise, we won't have enough seat - we are inviting many singles - even if they are married, I can't afford to invite both - just the people I know. I worry if they'll have fun too. This whole ting is stressing me out!!!!

Re: inviting singles w/o a guest

if she's not dating anyone, does she even have a guest to bring?

when i was single, i was always invited alone. my friends did it purposely because they KNEW i didn't have a boyfriend and didn't want to feel sad about having to find a stranger to go with.

it's a shame she's so sad, but would inviting her with a guest really have changed the fact that she doesn't have a boyfriend and still wouldn't have anyone else to bring?

hopefully she will find someone soon!!

Re: inviting singles w/o a guest

we're now in a situation that we're asking our friends that are not in relationships if they would mind being invited without a guest. we need those spaces, so far only one single friend said yes to having no guest.

but the funny thing is that the girl that fh wanted to invite recently got engaged and he didnt know, so now we have an extra person to invite! oy!

Re: inviting singles w/o a guest

I am one of those brides who didnt invite single people with guests and had absolutely no qualms about it. It was as simple as dollars and cents. I understand how and why people are sensitive in regard to this issue, however, I would never invite someone alone if they did not know anyone else. I also would not stick them at the 'singles' table either.

I was single for a very very long time while every one of my friends were getting married. I was invited to weddings with and without guests - had no issue with either way. Unless I was dating someone seriously, I went alone. I know what weddings cost and felt it wasnt necessary to have arm candy.

It would never be my intention to hurt anyone's feelings, but the primary hostess of my wedding is a 74 year old disabled widow who has to be concerned with how she will live on a fixed income. Her happiness and livelihood comes first. Thats my bottom line - it stinks but thats how it is.
