Dell DJ???? or ipod?

I was inspired by 121502 so now I want to buy myeslf a present. I want the Dell DJ (15GB) it is $199 and I have a Dell account so I won't have to pay yet! It is a little bigger than the ipod, but $100 cheaper (the ipod is $299). I have heard great reviews about the ipod but nothing about the Dell. Which should I get.

I Say IPOD, only because I heard such good things about them and it, BUT if it was me and I had a Dell account, I would probably buy the Dell..though if its a credit account, you adding interest to the amount and end up paying the same...O.k Im non commital sorry( I cant make my mind up about anything anymore!)

Ok..I LOVE the I-pod though but if it were me , I'd go with the Dell b/c of account and cheaper...try looking online for reviews of it first....

I don't know much personally about the Dell DJ but I heard it isn't nearly as good as the Ipod. However, being not all that technologically advanced myself, I would probably defiinitely consider the less expensive one.

I also have to add that I got FH an Ipod for Christmas and he loves it!

I think someone posted awhile back that her husband had the Dell and loved it. I just got DH a Rio Karma and so far we're happy with it, but have only had it a week. The guys at Best Buy recommended it over the IPod and CNet.com rated them both highly. I think the Dell got high ratings too - check out www.cnet.com They had an article on MP3 Players.

there is a mag called cargo and it has a write up this month on mp3 players and they rate about 25 of them.so check it out.....

although I heard that the Dell DJ was a good machine, I think what makes the iPod better (besides the fact that it is way better looking) is the iTunes website... they have a huge catalog of music to purchase... I haven't been to a record store in 7 months since I bought the iPod...

so, I would say, check into what services the Dell DJ offers and then make a decision.

IPOD IPOD IPOD....apple has been around for ages and it's so easy to use!! Plus, itunes has been having daily free downloads of random new songs (Foo Fighters, Avril Levigne, etc.) DH loves it!

Dell ruined my 21st birthday.

Okay well maybe not ruined, but they screwed it up a lot.

Now I'm left with a crappy computer that doesn't work until we can afford to buy me a new one.

It stinks, and its all Dell's fault.

Really? I have a dell computer and I love it! My last computer really sucked (emachines).

we have an ipod and DH loves it! i wish he'd let me use it more! i don't think you should get the mini. i've heard it has battery troubles and doesn't hold as much as the smaller regular ipods. DH's holds sooooo much!

yes you can.
an iPod is about the size of a box of cigarettes (but thinner).. the mini iPod could FIT into a box of cigarettes and they make an arm holder for those (the minis)

I have an Ipod (the bigger one) and I own a Dell computer.
Jim got me the ipod for Xmas.

If I were you I’d buy the Dell. Mostly because I don’t USE itunes. I just use the ipod as a mp3 player and I have PLENTY of music already and know how to get more if I need it. The ipod is just cool looking and has better marketing. But I actually like the way the Dell looks.

Also I use my ipod to and from work and noticed in the beginning if you jar it too much it gets lost or needs to be rebooted which is very difficult if you’re not at home.

I love my Dell computer. Nearly 4 years old and still one fast and mean machine. I would have easily bought the Dell version if Jim had let me know his intentions, but he got some great deal $$$ by buying 3 ipods (one for him, one for me and one for his sister.)

Well, the truth is that we NEVER RECEIVED the Dell.

Even though we ordered it, and payed in full by check-by-phone (the first time) and by Visa Check Card (the second time), the computer was never built.

Dell says the payment bounced. Our Bank says they never received the request for payment, but verified that we had plenty of money in the account and it would not have bounced.

Nevertheless, the day after the computer was supposed to ship, WE called THEM to check on status, at which point we were told that the order had been cancelled. After trying to get someone on the phone for TWELVE HOURS (no lie), we finally found out that there had been a problem with payment - which, I'll reiterate, our bank denies fully, as they never even received the request for payment.

The point is that they should have notified us that the order was cancelled. They did not. They made no effort to rectify the problem.

That is what I call award winning customer service.

I think Dell's biggest problem is customer service issues. FH has to call them frequently for work & says they aren't too helpful, and he has received at leat 3 things broken rought out of the box or soon after installing them.

We have dells at work too & I have 1 at home & I don't have a problem with it, but they didn't inlcude all the drivers on the recovery cd's so we had some trouble when I had to reformat the hard drive.

Those things wouldn't deter me from buying a dell MP3 player. I'd defintely read that article.
I think a lot of people will suggest the Ipod, b/c they are more familiar with it, but not because they have any problem with the Dell DJ.
