I don't know your exact departure date, but Continental has a direct flight 11/25 for $525 pp. American Airlines has one for $569, same day.

Re: delta declared bankruptcy----Why me?
Don't panic. Delta filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection - that is restructuring of debt NOT liquidation. Liquidation is through a chapter 7 filing.
Typically a business is allowed to continue to operate while it is in Chapter 11, although it does so under the supervision of the Bankruptcy Court.
They probably won't cancel any flights.

Re: delta declared bankruptcy----Why me?
flights are not cancelled and service is not interrupted as of now.
my mom is absolutely flipping out because my father works for delta. he may lose his job and then who knows what will happen. they may lose the house. there are many worse things than a missed flight.

Ugh.
Don't worry though!!! We're all going to send good 'airline' vibes your way. They would have to find you a flight if for any reason they cancel or change anything....
Keep us updated!

Re: delta declared bankruptcy----Why me?
I'm flying delta - chapter 11 is normal. Four major airlines are currently under that - United, USAIR, Delta & Northwest. I don't think it will be that bad. They have changed my flights to Hawaii about 7 times already, so I'm just going to keep monitoring them. I got our first class tix w/ my frequent flier miles.

Re: delta declared bankruptcy----Why me?
we always get insurance on all flights especially through expedia you just never know- I wouldnt mess around with something as important as the HM- whether or not they file chapter 11- a fellow bride on here she used AA and they canceled the flight and they didnt find out till they got to the airport! after several flights they got there but wasted I think she said 2 days! I used AA too, nonstop- smooth flight!

Re: delta declared bankruptcy----Why me?
this is the email that i received because we have the amex skymiles card....
Dear Cardmember:
In response to the changing financial pressures of the airline industry, Delta Air Lines has announced that it is restructuring its organization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. During this reorganization period, Delta will remain open for business and will continue operations as usual. Delta has expressed its commitment to providing customers with a high standard of service, noting that none of the organizational changes will affect the SkyMiles® program. On behalf of American Express, we'd like to share some additional information with you.
As a valued Cardmember, you can continue to enjoy the outstanding benefits of your Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card, earning SkyMiles for your purchases(1), and redeeming those miles for flights on Delta Air Lines and many of its travel partners—Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and other SkyTeam® partners. Moreover, we encourage you to continue to take advantage of these and many more features of your Card, including:
i think i am going to call to see if we could have those miles transferred to the new jetblue card.... we shall see

Don't worry about it - the Judge issued an order stating that they still had to fly - no flights are going to be cancelled.

This is correct. The fact that they are in Chapter 11 just effects how their vendors get paid, their employees, and their investors not necessarilly their business operations. If they file Chapter 7, then you worry. But customers generally don't even notice a difference in service when a company is restructuring.
I work in financial Puplic Relations, that's how I know.
