So, your chicken francese recipe...... would you say.... SUPER fattening? Or, not terrible?

What if I used egg beaters instead of eggs? Would that be gross?

I REALLY want to make it, but, we're dieting!!!

uhmmm can be quite fattening lol.

You can use egg beaters instead but theres other ingredients too you'll have to substitute...you use about 1/4 cup of butter, plus the chicken is friend but thats why i use olive oil instead. Chicken broth is very salty...Maybe its not that bad if you use some butter substitute like 'i cant believe its not butter' water it down after you put chicken broth(just a little) and def eat it with veggies

BUT not sure how it will taste with substitutions

Here you go: It really is amazing!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip
like Houston's®

Serves: 12
Prep. Time: 0:40 (In reality this only took me about 20 min to make)

2 cloves garlic - minced
2 Tbls. minced onion
1/4 cup real butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup chicken broth
2/3 cup fresh-grated Pecorino Romano cheese
2 tsp. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1/2 tsp. hot sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sour cream
(2) 10 oz. boxes frozen chopped spinach - thawed, squeezed dry through a fine sieve
12 oz. jar artichoke hearts - drained, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese

In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, sauté garlic and onion in butter until golden, about 3 - 5 minutes.
-Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
-Slowly whisk in cream and broth and continue cooking until boiling.
-Once boiling, stir in Romano, lemon juice, hot sauce, and salt; stir until cheese has melted; remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
-Stir sour cream into pan, then fold in dry spinach and artichoke hearts.
-Fold the mixture into an oven safe dish
-Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella evenly over top.
- Put this in the oven just until the cheese melts on top.
Notes: Serve with tortilla chips for dipping and sour cream and salsa.

Re: Denise

I should be doing work right now but decided to play around on the weight watchers recipe builder to look at the chicken francese.

For my recipe, (just to get an idea), I used:
1 lb chicken, parmesan cheese, flour, eggs, broth, white wine, 4 tbsp butter, 1% milk (instead of whole milk). 1tbsp oil (would probably need more tho?) The total for the whole recipe was 45 points. Then you obviously would divide by however many servings.

I think it really depends on how much butter/oil you use in the recipe (since Denise didn't really say). Since you need to fry, you also could try using spray at a lower temperature. I've done that before and it hasn't been too bad.

Not sure how that would affect the recipe.
