Are most vendors' deposits non-refundable? Just wondering if this is common practice. Photographer telling me it is. Just wanted to see what experience others have had.
You really have to read the contract. Most of mine were not.

Yeah...I think it is standard for them to keep the deposits. That's there guarentee you'll use them.
That should be stipulated on your contract, but all of the vendors I booked with, their deposits were non-refundable.

I've been surprised that some are requesting 50%. My wedding is 2 years away! Hearing the 50% deposit request has been turning me off of some vendors. Anyone else having this experience?
50% thats crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't paid that much for a deposit. The only deposit that IS refundable is from my photographer.
