depressing

is anyone else finding home hunting depressing..gosh fh and i have good jobs and we can't afford anything on long island..even the condos and coops are ridiculous..how frustrating..

I don't even want to go looking b/c I know it will just depress me more than I already am from looking online. How does anyone afford to live here?

I used to feel that way. Did you go and see an real estate agent? We did and they printed up a list of all the 'cheap' houses. We went to some of the open houses and they were not that bad!

I used to feel that way. Did you go and see an real estate agent? We did and they printed up a list of all the 'cheap' houses. We went to some of the open houses and they were not that bad!

This is BIG part of why DH and I are going to be moving to PA...the prices of houses here are just absolutely ridiculous. It's amazing what you can get elsewhere (like PA) for HALF the price.

my mom is actually a real estate agent so i'm getting all the new ones quick but for the price range i can afford they are all crap..it gets worse and worse..the last house we saw was on a curve and we liked it but the next day we went to see it again the tree in front had been smashed by a car and car pieces were all over the lawn..i could only imagine what my car would have looked like if it was parked there..and there was NO driveway..ARRRHHH

I agree... we are going looking at coops again today, but some are smaller than our apartment... its so disheartening... we just don't know if or where we would move to.

We feel the same way....the only thing we could begin to afford would be a one bedroom coop /condo..smaller then the apt we have...doesnt make sense to do that...It'll liklely be ten yrs before we can afford a house!!!

i know how you all feel too - ny is so expensive that we wonder why we bought a house....it seems we will never have to stop saving for something!!

I too am dealing with all this - I just dont get it - Its crazy to rent - I pay alot for my townhouse I rent - Its really nice and brand new - two floors and all - BUT only 1-bedroom - NOT that I need more - But would trather pay a mortgage... JUST CANT FIND A HOUSE I CAN AFFORD....

We started with a one bedroom co-op, our apt. before that was bigger BUT the co-op was temporary and an investment. We are there 3 1/2 years and doubled our money and saved on the side and that is how we are in contract for a beautiful home. It will happen for you!
