I'm very upset... I had an annual exam the other day and she thought I might have fibroids and wanted me to have a sonogram to check...so I had the sonogram today and the tech said it looked like a dermoid cyst on the left ovary which would probably have to be removed by laproscopic surgery :( Of course I don't know anything until I talk to the doctor tomorrow... and I've been researching online and it doesn't seem like it will affect pregnancy issues in the future, but just wondering if anyone has gone through this or know of anyone who has? Thanks ladies... Being a woman just ****s...

Re: Dermoid cyst on ovary
I had something on my fallopian tubes. They had to laser remove them. I had a laporoscopy. The procedure scarred my tubes, and they said making it a little harder for the egg to pass thru - but here I am 6 months Preggie!
Try not to worry - these procedures are VERY common.

Re: Dermoid cyst on ovary
I don't know anything about dermoid cysts, but I have a hopeful story for you - A friend of mine had fibroids and was originally told by a doctor that she'd need surgery before TTC. To make a long story short, another doctor told her not to have surgery b/c the scar tissue could do worse damage than the fibroid. Anyway, she didn't have surgery and got pregnant the first month trying and today they have a gorgeous 4 month old. So I would try not to worry to much - especially since the stuff you've read shows that it won't affect pregnancy. Good luck!

Re: Dermoid cyst on ovary
I had a dermoid cyst on my right ovary 3 years ago and had it removed by surgery, it is basically a cyst that you were born with it is extra protien( hair, nails etc) my md removed it and I am fine we are going to start ttc soon... I'll let you know but my md said it would not be a problem. women get pregnant with half and ovary...

Just wanted to lend some support. I would also request a second opinion prior to any surgery.
