Hi girls any advice regarding the pros and cons of these 2 places? Anyone had either of the food at these places?

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
The Deseversky Center is cheaper and you can have the entire house to yourself for the entire day. But it doesn't hold as many people as Harrison House and you also have to get your own cake.
Harrison house is more expensive but you'll have a place to stay in the hotel and it comes with a suite. HH is larger and can hold more people...
Both are great, but I think deseversky is prettier. would have held wedding there but it's not big enough...way too many guests.

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
Well I am thinking about having the wedding on a Sat night at DeSeversky and having my guests stay at the HH. After speaking with the HH they are encouraging me to have a Saturday Day wedding (my min is too low for a Sat nght and the price would sky rocket). The $$$ would be the same although one would be at night while the other is in the day. However, the HH is offereing less food that the amount of $$$. I also liked the fact that at DeSeversky you have the whole place to yourself. I guess I would just like to know what others think about the 2. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
I just had my wedding at de Seversky--I thought the HH looked too run down & too much like an old hotel upstate NY---
the pros--there was a ton of food--we were worried too from prior posts --the location, ambiance..charm etc. hands down an awesome hidden gem.
the cons--0nly consider deSeversky if you have an excellent wedding planner to deal with the management---it was a major headache --I actually 'won' a planner off of this website & she did an AMAZING job--you may want to call her directly regarding this place since she now knows it inside & out--Her name is Laurie Savino (thebrideschoice)
I would only consider deSeversky if you are planning for under 125 people for a sit-down dinner--we had 100--and it was tight...

I am not sure what 10-14 means????
The food was not good? I thought this place was known for it's food? I will absolutely have to go to lunch here first.
Any others?

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
Thanks for this info and the name- what was hard with this place?
Does anyone know what wedding planner fee ranges are. We are spluging on the reception site but will have to be tight with the rest of our budget. Also, I have heard that wedding planners sometimes saves you money and are well worth the fee b/c they have relationships with different venders and get a good discount. Is this true?

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
deSeversky food was excellent--that was not the issue--issue is that they do not host as many events as other places----and most of the time when you call--you will get an answering machine...

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
I forgot--other issue is that they will not allow you to have a tasting and the food they serve at lunch-is diff from the wedding menu---so....turned out that the food was great--but we had no idea prior what we were getting

Re: Deseversky or Harrison House
I'm totally and 100 percent bias but thus far, I favor the HH simply because of the ambience, cocktail hour rooms, hotel on site, pub onsite, grounds, bowling alley and indoor pool onsite, plus I've heard only wonderful things about the food! Thats JMO
