DeSeversky/Templeton Mansion - Any Info would be GREAT
Hey! I am from NJ (live in NYC) but my Mom's friend suggested the DeSeversky Mansion (sometimes called Templeton). Does anyone know how many people fit, what rooms there are besides the ballroom, PRICES. Also, if you have seen the construction and know the story that would be great.

We looked at it because someone suggested it to us too. We were not to happy with it. One of the reasons was because we were told that the culinary school does the cooking. I went to a dinner there one night and was not happy with the food cooked by the culinary school. Also, it didn't really have the feel of a place for a wedding reception. I kind of felt like I would have been having my reception at someones house in their living room. Which is fine if that is the feel your going for.
It just wasn't for us.

We looked there as well. And I must agree...not the greatest. They gave us such a sales pitch it made us sick and we dont appreciate when one vendor talk bad about another. Just to shaddy. Plus you can not have music outside because of the neighbors. If you want the manson fell try the Vanderbult in oadale or Harrison House

I went to a wedding there. It was a beautiful location but they will not serve a sit-down dinner if you have over, I think, 120 guests. The wedding I was at had about 140 so it was a cocktail reception. We had to sit at a table far away from the main ballroom just by the bar. I didn't like that. They did have the ceremony outside and the grounds are really beautiful. I think it is nice for a small wedding.

Here is the scoop. My family lives in Old Brookville.
It used to be better. The grounds were perfect and the food was good. But NYIT owns it now and cheapened it up a little. They have this ugly NYIT awning in the front which looks terrible. The inside smelled moldy/damp. It also was not kept as nice as Harrison House and Oheka. When we looked in April, the grounds were being totally renovated. I also heard that they sold some of the land to build houses.
I mentioned to some of the vendors that I had looked there and was disappointed. They told me that a number of their brides were freaking out about the landscaping mess and actually changed halls a few months before the wedding.
