Desperate for Help! Advice for May/June 2014 wedding
Hello! I am fairly new to these boards as I've only been engaged since June 30, my FH and were planning on a March 2015 wedding initially, giving me plenty of time!
But after discussing this with FIL's they didn't see the need to wait and want a May/June 2014 wedding , It will be a blended American/Hindu Wedding.
Problem is I don't know where to start! We will be having about 225-250 people, and I know we are really cutting it close in terms of timing, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really trying to avoid a regular Hotel wedding, but I don't want our guests to feel to cramped in a regular reception venue..
THANK YOU so much in advance!

First things first, accept that you may need to be flexible with your date, day of the week, time of day, etc. You're not super later, but a lot of places will be booked.
Will you be willing to do a Friday or Sunday? Afternoon wedding?
Roughly, what do you want to spend? Are you okay with a venue having more than one wedding at a time? Once you nail these down, we'll be able to help more!

We'd prefer Sunday, we are flexible on time of day. Looking to spend no more than $175?pp ( my FIL don't want that to be factor, I don't see how it can't be)
And we'd definitely prefer one event at a time, but may consider a place that gives you good privacy even with other events going on..
Thanks again!

Don't stress, there are plenty of places out there that can accommodate parties that size. You'll definitely need to be flexible with your date and day of the week but it can be done.
I would start with actually coming up with a guest list (if you haven't already) so you have a real idea of your number and can give it to halls as well as a budget. Then think about what you want in your venue like outdoor space, one wedding at a time, style of the venue etc. and do some research online and make some appointments. Once you see a few places you'll get a better idea of what you like and what you don't like.
After you find your venue start looking into everything else like DJ/band photography videographer florist etc. Also, start looking for a dress now, some designers take longer then others and you could be stuck paying rush fees if you wait.
I got engaged at the end of March and will be getting married in October, so it can definitely be done! Happy planning!

Try Bridgeview Yacht Club. Their ballroom holds up to 400 people and they should be in your budget.
I had my wedding there in March and everything was better than I ever could have imagined.

Check out The Woodlands on the Green. This is where my fiancé and I are getting married. It is so pretty and the food is outstanding and WELL BELOW your budget. FM if you have any questions.

I'm having 250 at my wedding and my venue accommodates that. Look at the reception guide on this website, they show the venues capacities.

5/25/14 is my date :) but it booked up quick because it's a holiday weekend so be open to being a little flexible with the date/day of the week

Leonards of Great Neck has a few rooms and they have renovated all of them. They have a gorgeous room at the top floor that will fit your guest amount and one on the bottom floor which is a lot bigger (up to 1000 people). Their top menu is amazing and has lots of food and its under your price pp. Good Luck!
