i'm slowly but surely starting to lose my mind trying to start planning for my wedding and I was hoping maybe i could get a small sense of sanity from this site but reading so many things has just made it worse. First I have to say you guys seems to be great to each other, very helpful and beyond informative.. 2nd I am trying to plan this whole thing on a budget since fh and I are paying for it ourselves... 3rd I am no longer on LI (in FL) but I have to have my wedding there because all of the family involved so any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know anything about the following rh's 1. Mediterannnean Manor 2. Marconi Manor 3. Artisian Waterfall 4. Patchouge Manor 5. Galaxie Caterers I am looking for a package that includes most or possibly all vendors, since I am not there to plan and the only person I would trust to plan would be my mom and she's here Any and all information you can give me would be GREAT!! Thanks so much

Re: Desperately need some opinions
I don't know any of those places, but a lot of the rh, offers preferred vendors..
As far as this website, use the vendor helping brides sections to help you find vendors.
Don't worry, first thing first, get your rh. If you are having a separate ceremony site, book that too. LIttle by little, don't get overwhelmed

Re: Desperately need some opinions
sorry don't know those Rh's
to make it easier on yourself, i would call them up first to see if they even have your date available. Many rh's are pretty booked already for 08...so this way it might eliminate some RH's off your list and it will be easier to narrow it down

Welcome!
Don't know much about the places you listed, but you can check out Brentwood Country Club and Manor East--both offer wedding packages with pretty much everything. Also start calling up places to see if they are booked for the dates you want. This will eliminate some off your list and help you narrow it down.

Re: Desperately need some opinions
I also recommend the Brentwood Country Club - I've been to 2 weddings there that were beautiful & both brides highly recommend them (said the prices were great, as was the service).
I've never been to affairs at any of the others, but: - My friend & I checked out the Marconi Manor about 5 years ago. I don't know anything about the food & service, but I should just mention that 1) it's pretty much across the street from the train tracks & 2) It's really like a VFW hall. When we went we were expecting a formal RH & were surprised that it was more like a VFW...which is 100% fine, but it wasn't what she was looking for.
- My coworker just got married at Patchogue Manor a few weeks ago & is STILL raving about it. He was more than pleased with the food, the service, the price, everything. Based on his happiness alone, I'd recommend checking them out
- Galaxie Caterers is right on Rt. 109 in kind of an industrial-type area. Again, I've never been there, but my parents have a few times. They said the food was good, but that the building could use a little updating because it was 'dark' (not sure what they meant by that though)
- Did you mean Ariana Waterfalls? We went there to check it out for ourselves. It was nice enough, but really needed some updating. There were cracks in the stairwell, the room was SUPER HOT and they were cleaning so it stunk like bleach (which almost knocked me out)...it was probably because we were there during their off-hours, though...
All in all, I think that Brentwood CC & maybe Patchogue Manor may be your best bets. Them seem to have the 'budget pricing' without sacrificing anything...good food, nice buildings (& at BCC grounds)...
HTH! Good luck with your search!!!

If you're looking for one-stop ease of planning, try East Wind. They have a favor/invitation/flower store on site (With All My Heart, formerly in Pt. Jeff), a spa on site, and ADA photography is a mile away.

Manor East - in Massapequa, right? We checked them out too...I forgot all about them. They seemed really nice & from what I remember had a nice package deal too (they were a contender for us for a while). I'd definitely recommend contacting them too.

Re: Desperately need some opinions
My uncle just got married at Mediterranean Manor in April. I thought it was really nice. The food was great and the DJ was a lot of fun.
I looked into Patchogue Manor for myself. I thought it was nice, very big inside. It used to be KofC hall. They offered a lot for the money.
Both places are right in the middle of Patchogue's main town. So there aren't any outdoor areas for pictures and stuff like that, if that's a factor for you.

I dont like Ariana's but, check out Brentwood country club, manor east and patchogue manor. Also type each hall in the search option to see what threads there are about the five halls.

Re: Desperately need some opinions
The only of those I had visited during my own search was the Meditarranean Manor. It was alright, but I wouldn't have chosen it personally. The decor seemed a bit out-dated to me, and there really wasn't an outside area (which was important to me).
Someone has probably already mentioned, but almost all reception halls will have a recommended vendor list. That, plus the reviews of all different vendors by all the girls on this site, will give you plenty of trustworthy vendor options to look at.
Good luck, and congratulations!!!

I got married at the Med Manor in Oct 2005. Everything was perfect. People raved about the food and the service was excellent. You should check it out.

Windows on the Lake was really nice, I believe they have an all-inclusive package as well. I went to a showcase there and the food was excellent. My mom still talks about it and is very upset i didnt book there.

Re: Desperately need some opinions
I have been to the Mediterranean Manor for a wedding and the food was great. The service was excellent too. As a previous poster said, the decor was a little outdated but I haven't been there in a while so maybe it's been updated.
I've been to the Galaxy for 2 occasions, neither of which was a wedding. The food was okay, the place in general is okay at best. I don't know where you would take pictures either.
As other posters said, check out the Brentwood Country Club. Also, I don't know what your budget is, but there are a lot of catering halls that will work with you if you are flexible also in terms of dates.

Re: Desperately need some opinions
I agree, the Mediterranean Manor's food and service is excellent. I have not been there in several years, but a co-worker of mine is planning her daughter's Sweet 16 there and according to her it was recently updated - so you may be pleasantly surprised by the decor, I'm not sure.
Another co-worker of mine's daughter had her wedding at Marconi Manor and she had nothing but rave reviews about it, although I have personally never been there.
I've also heard great things about Brentwood Country Club.
