destination wedding
I am getting married April'03 in St.Thomas,my FH and I have been circulating that idea to family and friends and some will be joining us. So I am working with a travel agent to get a group package for those who want to attend. We plan on having a post wedding party in the summer around June/July. The problem is I need ideas on how to formally send this information out. Do I send regular invites and have information on the invitation about the post wedding party, do I send save the date cards and provided an informal invite explaining the information on the package deals and the plans for a post wedding party. I am so confused over something as simple as an invite. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tweety, I`m having a destination wedding in Bermuda. I sent out a save the date newsletter w/ all the info. I made the STD w/ a beach theme. I`m also sending out formal invites for a reception when we return. I just worded them informal. If you would like to see how I worded them, let me know. I`ll e-mail the copies.

We were planning to get married in Grand cayman but many of our family members and bridal party could`nt make it, so we posponted and our doing it in the hamptons. I`m sending save the dates with the hotel info about six months in advance so people can make hotel info. Since the invitations go out 6-8 weeks ahead that may not be enough time to make travel plans, so I think most people with destinations send save the dates. A friend who is getting married this april sent her save the date info with christmas cards, if your wedding's next april, maybe that's an idea for you.

What my friend did...
One of my best friends is getting married in Bermuda this June. She made arrangements for a cruise last year and sent our regular invites listing the ceremony cite and reception cites with RSVP cards. She also inluded information on the cruise that she got from her travel agent as well as a card for the agent she was working with. Really for the guests it translated into deciding if you could attend, responding and contacting the travel agent if you wanted to go. You could always send one set of invites out now, for the actual wedding, with the travel info. Then send out a separate invite regarding the post wedding party. I have known a few couples who eloped and they sent out less formal invites for a post wedding party. They spread the word that they had eloped so no one was surprised to receive the invites. Good luck! BeckyWelcome New Vendors
