Re: Destination Wedding
I was actually looking into having a Destination Wedding since FH lives in another state and just about all of his family lives in yet another state. I thought it would be pretty hard to plan a wedding which basically incorporated 3 states (mine, his and his family's). But we planned it out and the budget for a destination wedding would actually cost more than just having it in my state and having his family come here.
What I did was decide WHERE I wanted to have the wedding (I was torn between a cruise and hilton head). I got prices, including hotel quotes and places for the rehearsal dinner. I had to make sure that the venues would let me bring my own officiant. Also, I was told that we were subject to the marriage laws of that particular state (or the state where the ship is registered in the case of the cruise), and had to get the license in that state. Then we had to think about whether we would be ok with not having as many family and friends there as we wanted to because not everyone would be able to afford to go. Once FH realized that, he said no d-wedding for us. I totally agreed.
