Our friends are getting married at a resort in Jamaica. And I wanted to know if there was any special ettiquite rules regarding showers and destination weddings, since the trad rule that if your not invited to the wedding your not invited to the shower can't apply to them. They are a young couple who just had a house built so they need a lot of stuff and therefore I think they should be 'allowed' to have one, but she wanted some other opinions. TIA.

I was a bridesmaid for a friend who had a destination wedding in Jamaica. We had a shower for her at a restaurant/koc type place before the wedding with all the usual people invited and all the decoarations were beach themed. She had a reception get together for everyone a month or so after the ceremony.

FH brother is getting married in Key Largo this weekend. Nobody threw them a shower and I felt bad. So I decorated my apartment and 'showered' them both with gifts and a cake. They loved it.

This is what a friend of the family is doing. She is having a low key party-BBQ at her house about a month after the ceremony for everyone. She still had a shower too!

My sister is eloping in Nassau Island in a couple of months. We're giving her a surprise shower in a couple of weeks. We invited family and her close friends.
