Destination Wedding vs Long Island Wedding

If family attendance was not a factor ........ would you keep your plans for a LIW or go for Destination Wedding?

I would keep my plans of getting married on LI. I truly love my hall and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere besides my church. I have had all my sacraments there!! Besides...I would prefer to keep the beachy atmosphere for our honeymoon.

I am on vacation in Hilton Head, SC and the first thing I said to my FH was, 'this would be a great destination wedding.' I could leave everyone here and HM at Jeckyl Island, GA. I am so bad.

I would have love a DW if my family wasn't so big.

While destintaion weddings are beautiful and truly lots of fun ( I just went to one last year), I think I would save the destination part for the honeymoon and still get married on LI

1. Elopement
2. Destination
3. Long Island

FH didn't want to elope though.. and we comprimised with a venue in upstate NY 2 hours away. This way we get that away from LI feel and guests have the option of still going home after the wedding or making a weekend trip of it.

I have to add that I saw an elopement on intimateweddings.com where the couple ran off to Paris in the winter time. It looked like a fairy tale! She had a gorgeous dress with a fur muff, an amazing photographer took pictures of them in front of the Eiffel Tower and of her ice skating at the hotel in her dress. It was amazing and made me desperately want to elope!

i would probably keep it where it is. i think a destination wedding would have caused problems between the two families (they don't get along very well, and my dad said no way he was going to spend multiple days with them in some remote location!!).

why not do both?! montauk is on long island and its as romantic as some further locations that you need to fly too. its like a destination wedding at home! it gives people the choice of staying the night/ weekend or going home after. here's a few awesome venues in montauk if your interested! http://tinyurl.com/ycegq52
