DESTINATION WEDDINGS....

I really really really want to get married on the beach on an island..we dont know that many ppl so the guest list wont be over 80-90 ppl. My main concern is this, if people cannot afford to pay and you really want them there, should you pick up the tab? another question is this...call me strange, but i dont really want everyone there 'on vacation' with me...what i mean is, i want ppl to come on thruday night, do their own thing friday day, we all do somethign friday night, saturday wedding, sunday brunch, and by sunday nigth i want them all gone so i can enjoy the HM with hubby in peace!!! how does one state that without offending ppl...put it on the invite? sorry this is so long! just 'typing out loud!' feel free to comment...

Re: DESTINATION WEDDINGS....

well a lot of people will probably only go for 3-4 nights...that being said, you can make a DIY cute itinerary, with what youll do friday, saturday wedding, sunday brunch, then right something like sunday night-whenever, have fun while FH and i are on our HM....also, if your having athat many people you could probably get great group rates that would save some money, if you have the money and wanted to maybe pick up a nights stay or airfare thats up to you...but i believe its if they can afford it they go, if not than they cant, which is the con to the DW....but i am looking into it too, am looking at bahamas, st thomas, or mexico, just trying to get prices..hope this helped, good luck!

Re: DESTINATION WEDDINGS....

not to sour things but just a reminder that august begins hurricane season in the carribbean. you may want to keep that in mind when choosing a destination. aruba is lower than the hurricane belt. good luck!

Re: DESTINATION WEDDINGS....

Hi,

I'm having a destination wedding in St. Thomas next May.

Your closest friends will make it wherever you decide to get married. You can cut down on their cost by paying for part of their room, but most DW brides don't do that.

Also, if you make up an itinerary for the day of the wedding, and you stay in a hotel that's different from everyone else, you won't have to worry about being on 'vacation' with everyone. People will want to do their own thing, since it will be their vacation time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to FM me.

Good luck

Rachelle
