Destination Weddings

Question has anyone planned or attended a wedding in the carribbean. My Fh and I have been playing around with the idea of getting married in St. Thomas. We both have large families whom would be expecting a invite to a wedding/reception. With the rising costs of planning a wedding in new york it has become clear to me that I would rather take the money we would spend on one day and use it for something else like a home or kids college fund. Any input would help. Thanks

Re: Destination Weddings

I am leaving for a destination wedding on Saturday. My friends are getting married in Bermuda. About 25 people are going on a cruise (including the bride and groom). Another 25 are flying in for the wedding becuase they can't get away for an entire weekend, etc. They are getting married on the island and are having a small reception at a local resort. What they did was to invite everyone they would have invited, realizing that a lot of people would not be attending. Since only fifty people are coming, they are happy that they will be sharing the day with the people they are closest to.

I can give you a full report when I get back if you would like! I think it is a great idea and my FH and I are so excited. It is a nice alternative to the traditional Saturday night extravangaza!

Good luck.

I attended a destination wedding in Alta Utah. IT was wonderful. As you can guess the bride and groom are skiers as are many of their friends. I dont know how many people they invited but they had about 40 people at the wedding. We all enjoyed a wonderful long weekend of skiing and celebrating togehter . They were very happy with their choice and they had a memorable wedding.
