Destination Weddings

I was just wondering if any of the lady's on the board who had a destination wedding regretted not having a traditional wedding??

Fh and I want to get married in Maui, but very little family and friends will be able to attend. I am having 2nd thoughts

I am having my wedding in Florence, Italy, immediate family and close extended only, and a 'traditional' reception for everyone else when we return-- this way we have a little of both! we just have to be very careful that it does not get too expensive for us.

We ust did not envision the typical church/temple wedding for ourselves.. we wanted to do something memorable for US and italy has meaning for us as well... this plan was definitely more suited to what we want ..and i get to wear my dress twice!!

We definitely had some initial resistance from my family (traditional Italian folk who wanted all 35 cousins to 'see' me get married) but we stood our ground and now everyone is very supportive and looking forward to the big trip!
