detailed info about SANDALS REGENCY ST LUCIA

i was responding to a FM and realized i should post this! it has alot of info, but not even enough about the trip...it was amazing...

everything in this is in response to questions i was asked, so if anyone has any other ??s still ask!! HTH

ok so we only did 2 excursions which were more than enough wer were so tiredlol....

Ziplining was AMAZING!!!! book it in advance though, it sells out!!! it was absolutely awesome...

then the 2nd one we did cuz someone there told us about it...on the beach, I think on SUndays and Mondays, this company called 'JOE KNOWS' comes onto the beach trying to sell u their excursion, it goes out on Wednesday Morning, about 8:30/9 til about 2:30/3...its PHENOMENAL! its the Land and Sea one, that through sandals is $200 pp but through them is $100 pp

you take a boat n go to marigot bay, to the Pitons and snorkel, to the Volcano and do the Mud Bath that you see us muddy in our pics (the water is SO HOT but i did it with a sunburn lol) to the Waterfall, then to another very small resort on a bluff where they give you a home cooked lunch SO GOOD! it was really really great! definitely do JOE KNOWS

oh and speaking of sunburn...i NEVER BURN and i burnt so bad, i usually just wear oil when im home, no SPF nothing...there i was using SPF100 on the joe knows tour LOL and 30 the rest of the trip! its not joke, esp if ur there in July and OMG its carnival in July!! its gonna be a Party!! lol

the Playmakers are insane,(the workers at sandals that do entertainment) they were like our family by the time we left cuz we just party every night n hang out n do all the activities...Ricky, Niecer, Andreas, Miquel, & Tamara were our faves...if you meet any of them, especially Ricky, mention Gina & Carl, hes actually probably meeting us in NYC in dec! awesome ppl...

as far as spending money goes, its a NO CASH resort...anything u need while ur on the resort, you charge to ur room n pay with CC...we spent a ton of $ cuz we did helicopter rides both ways, and bought some $300 mahogony hand carved plaque w/our names and date on it (from a guy in a hut near the watersports, you will see him...its quite amazing ill have to post pics, he takes CASH) but otherwise while we were there, Carl bought a couple of CUban cigars, we bough tons of sunscreen, bring alot its not cheap there, BUG SPRAY was $16 and u need it at night esp at the Street Party on Friday night, and we bought souveniers, about $75 worth...

we booked a private ndinner on the beach and massages before we went, so that was already paid for...but anythingyou already pay for through Sandals and then do there, CHECK YOUR BALANCE!!! because they tried to charge us again for it

Joe Knows you pay cash for, anything off the resort you pay cash for, but we didnt get much stuff w/cash.

and they swear that they tell yu, but they ddint tell us, whatever card you put on ur room, THEY HOLD $600!!!!!! so since i used a DEBIT cc, it took $600 out of my acct, and i had a negative balance...so BE CAREFUL if ur using a debit card...they released the hold like only a couple days ago!!

otherwise the trip was AMAZING...i hope i answered everything you needed, please ask if anything else comes up!! :)

In general ANY company puts a hold on your card if its a debit card, not a credit card.

You gave very good advice!

Thank you! I am soooo excited to go now! One question--with the land and see tour, did you have to hike up hills?

yeah they didn't tell us about the CC $600 either, but swore they did lol

also, we didn't need bug spray at all lol!!!! go figure, I guess it just depends on the person (and I usually need it)

1000000% agree regarding the sunscreen. holy ballz is that sun STRONG!

noooo we had to walk a tiny bit uphill but nothing traumatizing...

the Ziplinging was a HUGE workout!! (but im soo out of shape n have asthma lol) lotsa walking and climbing steps between lines...but totally helps you justify all the food n alcohol u consume on ur trip!! :)

Thank you! I have been on a few excursions like that one on some other trips. There was a lot of difficult hiking involved---through streams, over rocks etc. I don't think I'm up to that again, FH and I will definitely look into that. I want to go now!

yes - definitely go to the Pitons restaurant at the Regency (it's carribean food) and the italian restaurant at the Grande was amazing! We weren't too impressed with Gordon's - i wouldn't pay to eat there (it's free if you have a room with bulter service but otherwise it's $$ extra)
