Alexzander is 25 weeks old... technically five and a half months old.. by the date, sept. 5th he will be 6 months old.... Heres the issue...
He sorta sits on his own, but topples often... or throws himself back, because hes so excited. He Loves to stand and play in the walker and step and play piano (alternative to excersaucer), and walks a little as well... He doesnt crawl; he kinda does either an inch worm type thing or gets on all fours, rocks to gain momentum and thrusts foward.
My question is.. Is he on the right developmental track? Is it OK that hes still not able to sit all of the time by himself?? I keep reading articles and seeing advertisements of kids his age sitting and playing and crawling.. Everything else so far Alex has been soooo advanced.. I just wanted to question this issue, for some reason I feel hes not where the other kids are his age... Where was your little one at this age? Thanks Ladies!!

Re: Developmental question...
I know NOTHING about this except that I have a sister with 4 kids and they all went through very different development stages. I specifically remember her saying...'Caitlin was sitting up by now, Erin was walking, Rebecca should be crawling by now because Nicholas was at this age'...etc...She worried all the time! All 4 are perfectly perfect - in gifted and talented programs in school, two are extremely athletic, and the youngest is already plugging away on the piano. (can you tell I am a proud Aunt? )
(those are my 4 angels!)
I think maybe babies just all develop a little differently. Sounds like he's doing a bunch of things that are great!

Re: Developmental question...
Sounds like he is right on track. I bet he will be crawling in the next few weeks. I will not compare him to my daughter since everyone develops different. I will tell you what I see on the Babycenter 12/02 board. In general, most kids started sitting during their sixth month. Crawling is not cosidered a developmental milestone by most dr.'s. A baby can go right to walking and that is acceptable. They generally start crawling from 6-9 months, if they crawl at all. About 8-10 months they can stand for a few seconds unassisted. Walking is a relative term, but walking for many steps at a time may not happen until after a year, or as early as 9 months. Both are perfectly normal. This is what I see on that board based on polls we take among each other. Stop worrying and enjoy him being a baby.
