DH is in the hospital-we spent the evening in the ER!!!

Dear Lord forgive me for saying DH was a baby when he's sick. Last night I was working and a got a call on my cell from our best friend/best man. He had gone to my house to see DH and bring him computer games and he called and knocked and called and knocked and DH didn't answer the door but his car was there and the lights were on. I told him to call my dad about getting our spare key and when he called, my dad told him that DH had called earlier and his mother was taking him to the ER because he had phlegm built up and he couldn't clear his throat and can't breathe through his nose due to his nasal surgery he had on Tuesday to correct his deviated septum. So I let my class out early and my mom and I met him and his mother (and our friend who went there to be able to call me with the details, since he was closer) and his doctor came and checked his throat and said there was nothing obstructing his air, but it was a sensation caused by the nasal packing being pushed so high up in his nose.

In the process of using the tongue depressor to look at DH's throat, though, he coughed up a piece of phlegm with blood and his whole face changed and he looked better and felt better. His doctor was ready to send him home, but when he found out that we don't have a recliner and DH wasn't sleeping properly so he decided to check him in so he could sleep properly elevated in a hospital bed Well, it was bad enough to have to have DH sleep in the hospital but they didn't get him into a room until after 2AM, then we had to wait for a nurse and then my mom came back to my house and stayed over with me so I wouldn't be alone (since she knew I was exhausted and wound up).

Today I heard that DH has been moved to a different room and his doctor is supposed to come later this afternoon and remove the packing a half day early.

I might have gotten 3 hours sleep to add to the 4 hours the night before and I am ready to crash. I am here at work and I want to cry.

Juliet, so sorry to hear about your DH in the hospital!!!! I hope he gets better soon, and that you can get some rest in the meantime!

im sorry that your Dh is in the hospital I hope he feels better soon. and you need to catch on some sleep i know its hard because you are away from your dh but you do need to get some sleep so you dont fall asleep at work , driving . we are here for you if you needto. .talk

I hope he feels better. I actually had that surgery 6 years ago. The packing definitely makes it hard to breathe. It will still be uncomfortable for a while after the packing is removed. He may get some scabs when the incisions start healing that will come out when he blows his nose.

The worst part IMO is having the packing pulled out. It feels like they are pulling something from your brain thru your nose. If they hadn't done it yet, tell him to ask for pain medication before they do it. In a week, he will feel so much better bc he had the surgery.

Thank you for all of the support. I know I need to sleep, but thankfully I don't have to drive anywhere. I take the LIRR.

As far as the packing removal being like your brains coming through your nose, someone DH knows used that analogy too.

I think I am going to tidy up some things on my desk and leave early. My boss wondered why I even came in.
