DH QUIT SMOKING TODAY!! :) :)

He's been smoking for YEARS, started in his teens! Just last night we're eating dinner and out of nowhere he goes 'I'm not buying cigarettes anymore' and tells me that he's sick of being dependent on something, and that he's always tired and just never feels 100% healthy. So he says that once his current pack was finished - that was it, and he's trying to quit cold turkey!!! Oh, I'm so happy right now!! I've only asked him once or twice about when would he think about quitting, but very indirectly, never nagging - I know how annoying it is to be addicted to something, then at the same time have someone on your case about it! So I never really mentioned it, he just knew that I didn't like it and we always left it at that. So last night was TOTALLY out of nowhere! It's going to be rough for him at first, but I know he can do it, and I'm ALL ABOUT supporting him, more now than ever!
LOL - He called me right before I started writing this post to tell me the last cigarette was gone, and that he armed himself with toothpicks and gum before heading to work for the day! I'm really proud of him for quitting like this, it makes me feel better to know that we'll BOTH be able to live a long and healthy life together - not to mention the MONEY we'll save by not spending it on cigarettes anymore! (Almost $500.00 a YEAR!) And with a puppy on the way and children in the next few years, we don't have to worry anymore about exposing them to smoke (which was really starting to concern me lately!) Well, as you've probably noticed, I'm very happy with DH right now, and so proud of this decision he's made.![]()
