diamond district?
has anyone bought their rings there? where specifically? i am thinking i want to check out wedding bands ... we went over the weekend to look at bands at the jeweler in NJ where FH bought my engagement ring. I like the idea of buying them there, because I trust them, but I'm wondering if I can get a better deal (and maybe more bang for my buck) in the diamond district. but, i have no idea where to go!i am planning on getting a diamond eternity band, as well as a plain platinum band, so i was thinking i could at least get my eternity band in the DD and FH's wedding band and my plain one at his jeweler.
any advice is appreciated - thanks!

FH didn't get my ring in the diamond district but I know he definitely used their quotes to negotiate with the jeweler he wanted to use. Maybe try something like that? Shop around to get the specifications and pricing and go back to the jeweler you trust and see if he can match it.
good idea!

My FH got my ring from the DD and it's beautiful! He got it for half the price that it was worth and got it appraised. Great guy at Gaby's Jewelers!

DH and I went to the DD and I didn't care for the experience. Without a personal reference from someone it was hard to know who to trust. There were people trying to lure us in at every storefront we passed. I would suggest trying Chinatown's jewelry district, but more specifically Carl Sampieri at Sampieri Diamonds. He gives the best prices by far and will educate you about diamonds in the process. He custom made my e ring and made our wedding bands. Located on the Bowery at Canal Street. FM me for more details if you'd like.

Fh bought my ring at a jeweler in Garden City and we went back for our wedding bands. His brother purchased his now wifes ring and bands in the diamond district and paid way more for a smaller diamonds that didn't even come certified. I know for us there was no doubt about going back to our jeweler since we purchased my engagement ring there and got my 2 bands and fhs band we have gotten amazing deals. Even as first time buyers when fh went for my ring they gave him a beyond reasonable price. I would look what's out there and like the other girls said look at prices to compare and negotiate!

'D.Rao & Company' in the Diamond District. Dom is a true artist. He designed my engagement ring and is doing both of my wedding bands.

We didn't go to the Diamond District but we did buy them in the city at the New York Jewelry Exchange building which is located on Bowery and Canal. We used Dennis Dalton who is absolutely amazing and has a great reputation. Here is his website:http://store.dennisjdaltonltd.com

Re: diamond district?
my e-ring is from the diamond district and I priced some out over there, but we decided to go to tri county and take a look too because I heard great things about Sam at the diamond roof.. many of the tri county jewelers also own booths in the diamond district, so it made more sense to go to tri county and not waste $$ on a train ticketMy wedding band sounds exactly like what you want- an eternity diamond band.. but keep in mind: if you are doing an eternity, getting platinum isn't really necessary. My e-ring is platinum, but all of the jewelers I spoke to said to just go with white gold because the diamonds cover it anyway. White gold bands need to get re-dipped after some time, but only if the band itself is showing, and it's not because it's covered all around in diamonds. Platinum adds 3-4 hundred dollars more, and if the jewelers said it's not needed then I believe them (they obviously would have pushed it more if they wanted the $$)
I have pics in my album :)
