This is open to EVERYONE.. Have you had any issues with our bridal party because of difference of opinion due to cultural differences or religious differences??.. Or am I the only one?? I'm Dominican... FH is African American... I haven't had issues YET with his family.. but my Matron of Honor (who is also African American) which is a childhood friend and wife of FH's best friend... has posed a NUMEROUS amount of issues (which FH has just made me aware of) because of her resignation as my matron of honor (please see my 'DEAR....' post..)
The forum is open.. Please speak! lol

Well, Yessenia, I thought your post looked really really interesting, so thought I'd take a peek, but sorry, we haven't had those kind of issues. Debi had a lot of BM's drop out last year because of $. Sorry I can't help hon!!!! Mary MOB

Not so much because of money mama... Just cultural differences.. Like for instance... She felt that a backyard shower (although planned correctly would be great!! and a perfect money saver) but the though of a PORT-A-POTTY repulsed just about everyone else due to older family members having difficulty in it, and the lack of privacy, and when confronted by it, her response was (well that's the black way, we're not as UPTIGHT as you latins are) type thing... Even FH was like.. Uhmm I'm a black man, and I wouldn't want my 75 year old aunt trying to use one of those with a line waiting for her and people all up in the business.. I mean at one point she made us feel we (as latins) felt that we were better than her, and that is not the case. IN ANY WAY..

Awww, I totally understand!!! My Mom is 81, and I don't think she, nor I for that matter, would feel comfortable using a portapotty in the backyard. Mary MOB

EW! Tell her it's not a 'black, lating, white, asian etc' THING - tell her its flat out GHETTO and tacky type of thing. A backyard shower can be very nice - but PORT-A-POTTY's? HELL NO!!!

Port a potty.... 'black thing' ???? I never would recommend it... so I dont think its a 'black thing' sounds like a personal preference of this ONE girl... not a race thing.. I hate being being put in a category But I agree with the previous poster.....

I comepletely understand. All my friends and family are catholic, while DH, his family and I are Pentecostal Christians....caused many issues.
You have to remember one things, its your (and FH) wedding. No one else's, if they have issues with how you do things, or what you want out of your day....then its their issue to deal with. You explain things once, and if you find yourself overly explaining things, then point to the door and say 'you are free to leave, or should I remind you its my day?'
Good luck!

YESSSSS!! GHETTO is the perfect word.. I dunno she would make it seem sometimes that my family acts uptight and prissy and that ALL latins do.. then I got mad and was like, no.. I know plenty of latins that are as ghetto as you are.. I don't think she liked that..

It's a GHETTO THING. You are good, none of the word that would have came out of my mouth I can print here. At least the drama will be over soon. You know I'm not family, so I can say all the things you couldn't and she can't pull the latin thing because I'm black and some other cultures. Now that other thread. Stay strong and keep your head up, you are marrying your best friend who loves you unconditional. We can't pick our family, but we can laugh at them.
