In case a lot of people reply no, do brides use a stand-by list for people they didn't invite, and if so...How does that work..I would imagine that sending out invites to the stand by list would be cutting REALLY close to the wedding.
I didn't have a 'b' list...but I did invite people after I sent the first wave...it was more like...it would be nice if they could come too

we didn't have a B list - we weren't in any danger of not making our minimum.

we plan ' list thing b/c our hall maxes out at 150 and our list is growing. We plan to send out invites early and as the nos come in send out others. We are debating getting the response cards with different rsvp dates on them.

We had a B List and would send out additional invites when we got no responses. Also, you might want to get response cards with a second due date so as to not let the B list people know that they are on the B list. Another note is to send out invites earlier. My experience has been that people wait to respond at the last minute for one reason or another or they forget and don't RSVP until you remind them. It' such a pain.

I'm totally having a stand-by list. I'm actually writing the guest list up in order from must-haves on top to the stand-by's on the bottom.

we will send out all our invites and then we'll see how many no's we get. if we get a lot of no's right away then we'll send out a few more invites.
we have to guarantee 120 people so we'll just see how the guest list works out. So far we have about 175 on the list.
But we have time so not worrying about that stuff yet

for every no we get we send an invite. we're doing that for 3 weeks or so, then we'll stop b/c it's too close to the rsvp date.

We are going to have one, but it's pretty short.. it's just in case we get so many declines that we are close to not meeting minimum.. the list is pretty long, but you never know.
