Plan your own shower???? My mom and sister were supposed to plan it together.. but lets just say they dont get along and cant agree on anything and its causing tension and stress and I think I rather just plan it on my own then get stressed out from worrying about THEM planning it. Is that really odd?? I wanted to be suprised but in a way I am a control freak and I think it would actually be less stressful if I were to do it.. I would have the BMs help but I would choose the resturant and menu etc...

I feel terrible that you are put in that position but at the same time it may not be the proper thing to do. On the invites you should use the wedding party as hosts because the idea is to shower the bride with gifts and you don't want to solicite your own gifts. Good Luck!

I helped with a lot and gave ideas and told them what I did and did not want. I didn't want to be surprised, so it was ok.

I don't want to be surprised either. So, I am helping alot with the planning with my Mom who is paying for it. I just want something small and simple.. we are doing lunch with some close friends and fam. at a nice restaurant.

honestly, fi someoen threw her own shower, I'd probably not go. I'd think it was really kind of tacky. I'm just saying what I'd think. Not everyone is gonna know your situation. I'd let them plan the whole thing and stay out of it completely, and that way you can stay out of the stress completely too!

How do you know you haven't been to a shower where the bride was involved in the planning? Or do you mean only if the shower invitation came from the bride would you not go? that doesn't seem to be a reason to not celebrate a friend's shower...jmo.
