Did any of you ladies skip the father/daughter mother/son dance?
FH's mother passed away a few years ago and I'm having a hard time finding a song for my dad and I to dance to (we are not that close)... so I'm thinking about skipping it all together. Have any of you ladies done this? If so, what did you do in place of the dances?

we did it, but i dont think there is a need to do it or do anything in place of it. my only thought would be if FH has a brother, grandmother or aunt he is close with that he could dance with instead. if not, i say skip it all together

I did but I shouldn't have...my dad and I were actually arguing during our dance (tons of fun)...we aren't close, but I did it anyway to keep the peace. Ended up backfiring anyway.
My BIL skipped the dance with his mom at his wedding because they aren't super close and he wasn't comfortable with it...he didn't do anything in its place, and it was totally fine.
If you don't want to and it won't ruffle feathers, I say do what you want!! It's your day

DH and I skipped making it a big thing - we didn't want an announcement from the DJ or people to part and just watch us since my dad is super conservative and SHY! Instead, we requested a slow song and I danced with my dad and he danced with his mom. It fit us better to do it this way.

My FH and I both skipped our parent dances. My father is not in the picture and FH HATES dancing..so we just skipped themand they really weren't missed. If you don't have them, I don't think anyone will question it. Noone did from my wedding :D

We skipped the mother/son dance because DH's parents are deceased and we didn't want to substitute anyone in their place.

We skipped it - instead my dad and I danced a traditional Albanian dance with everyone around us clapping which is what I really wanted. It wasn't us to dance a slow dance w/ eachother, so we didn't do that. And hubby and his mom did the same thing. It worked perfectly for us. Do what you want to do
