We're not gonna say 'til death do us part', but we're not gonna say that either!! We're gonna say something to the effect of 'forever and ever' or 'til the end of time'. IMO, our love is eternal!!

I've heard of instead of 'As long as we both shall live' it's 'as long as we both shall love'

I like that!
I can't even imagine saying 'till we divorce' - what a mood killer! you would think that people would at least think they will be 'to death do us part' on their wedding day! JEEZ

Yup, I was listening. I think that is ridiculous, it seems like they are expecting their marriages are going to fail. That makes me a bit upset and disppointed....should they really get married if they are trying to avoid be stuck with the vow 'Till death do us apart.' FH's parents are divorced and I don't want that to be us and I do plan on us being together forever.

Jewish wedding vows are slightly different. We recite in Hebrew and English as follows:
'Harei at mekudeshet li betaba'at zo kedat Mosheh v'Yisrael'
- Literally: 'Behold you are consecrated unto me, with this ring, according to the Law of Moses and Israel.'
The Ketubah is what protects the Jewish woman in the event that the marriage splits. When it has what is called a 'Lieberman Clause' it FORCES the man to give her a Jewish divorce (called a 'get') so she can remarry in the Jewish faith by a Rabbi.
I could never recite or say a vow that has a cloud of impending doom with the word 'divorce'. It sets a bad tone.

I don't know about you but I won't even say those outloud until my wedding day.
