put the registry cards in your e-party invitations? We registered at Fortunoff so that people would buy us gifts for our engagement party and I don't know if it is appropriate to put the registry cards with the invitations. I figured I would ask you guys what you did before I have a fight with my FMIL. LOL!!!

I didn't have an e-party but, you usually just put the registry cards in shower invitations.

I'm not because I really don't want people to think that the reason we're having an engagement party is for the gifts... And I really don't expect everybody to bring a gift, because that's really not the point at all.
It's different from a shower invite, because really the whole point of a shower is the gifts (hence the whole 'shower the bride with gifts' thing that is the origin of the bridal shower)

Although we weren't registered at the time of our e-party (and actually we still aren't), I wouldn't have put them in. People will find out by word of mouth. I know tons of people asked my mom and FMIL if we were registered anywhere prior, so people will find out.

My Emily Post etiquette books says that it's inappropriate to include the cards in any type of invitation and that regsitry information should be communicated by word of mouth.
It also says that it's improper to give (or expect) gifts at an e-party.
I know not everyone follows this stuff, but thought I'd give Emily Post's two cents...

I had the same question before I sent them out too but I learned that you shouldn't put them in the e-party invites b/c it looks like you are asking for a gift and that you can put it in the shower b/c most likely the bridal party/family gives it so it's acceptable there. And believe me...word of mouth definitely works HTH
