I am asking this because....I am thinking about it. How hard can it actually be? Am I crazy to even think of this? Just buying some fabric and doing it myself?

FMIL made it for FSIL. She said the veil part was easy. She bought a pattern, edged the veil, no big deal. BUT, she said then gathering it and sewing it to the tiny comb was a roya pain in the butt. She actually ended up having that part done by someone else.

I'm going to make my own, I will attach it probably to a comb and have the blusher attach to the veil with velcro - which I noticed they do with the veils in the bridal stores. i already bought the tulle for 1.50 a yard so I bought three yards to have a floor length veil, I'll give it a shot and let you know how it comes out.

i thought about it. my dress came with a shawl that i want to have as my veil so i'm thinking of just grabbing it in the center and attaching it to a small comb.

It's not that diffucult to do....I don't even think you have to be crafty either...my sister's friend made one for me (didn't end up using it) but it was just lovely...she followed all the books.
I probably couldnt do it to save my life, but I would practice with a cheap fabric first to see how it would come out before you maybe 'hurt' the veil material.

Yep thats a great idea!! I found some great sites. I think thats what I am going to do since I want a silk one.
