Or one of the first houses. We are starting to look this weekend but everyone keeps saying take your time. Don't jump into anything. But what if we like a house this weekend? If we wait it probably will be gone in this market

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
I know what you mean. We just started looking too and we feel like we need to jump on every house that day even if we hate it because the market is nuts. Good luck tomorrow. I am going out Sunday

Seriously looking? Probably the third home. But we looked through a lot of those supermarket magazines for months...but we saw actually 3-4 homes (I think , can't remember exactly).

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
we put an offer on a house very early on and i was uncomfortable with it because we bid up when that was not the original plan. i felt i needed to educate myself better to know if we were getting ripped off or not. turns out the sellers didn't accept our bid, so everything happens for a reason...

Everyone keeps telling us not to rush either. The right house will come along and just b/c the market is crazy doesn't mean you have to jump at everything you see. We've seen about 20 houses and have not put an offer on anything. I know that the right house is out there and in our price range. My FBIL and his wife saw about 4 houses and IMHO they got scr*wed. If they had waited I think they could've gotten s/t much better.

Well, the first house we saw we wanted. And it was a great price. At the time we were not ready to make an offer. We had no preapproval or anything. Of course when we were ready it was already sold. I am really happy with the house we got, but I just cam't forget about that other one. It was a great price and was new (cosmetically). My advice would be to be prepared because you never know.

Yep thats great advice. We are pre approved and ready to go. We have a very good downpayment ready and agree on what we want and our limitations as far as price too. I know our dream home is out there, or our potential dream home at least!

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
Here's another point of view. We liked one of the first houses we saw, thought it was a great deal, and wanted to make an offer. But I felt uncomfortable because we hadn't seen enough, so we backed off. Over the course of the next few months we gained such an education! Thank God we didn't buy that house, our house is SO much better!

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
There were a couple of homes that we liked when we first started looking. (I think we may have even made an offer, but it wasn't accepted.) Anyway, I'm glad it didn't work out because a couple of months later we found ourselves looking in a totally different area.
Looking back, it took us a while to really get a feel for the different areas/communities. My advice is to make sure you 'LIKE' the house, but 'LOVE' the location.

We put an offer on the very first house we EVER looked at and were outbid. We put an offer on the 2nd house we looked at (new construction) and we've been in it for 1.5 years now!

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
I guess you can say we bought the first house we saw. We had an appointment to see our house that was made spur of the moment! We had 2 appointments made for other houses for the same day that were made earlier in the week. However, we saw this house in the paper and called the realtor and she said to come right now to see it, so we did. We fell in love w/ it from the second we pulled up to it but did not want to get our hopes up and didn't want to buy so early! Later that night we went to the 2 other houses that we had appointments scheduled for and could not help but compare to the first one. We made them an offer that night and they accepted the next day and we were in contract 1 week later and closed 5 weeks after that!!!! i guess things happen for a reason and it was meant to be.

No. We put bids on 3 houses before we got ours. Glad the others didn't go through. When it's meant to be it will be!
Good luck!

Re: Did anyone buy the first house they saw?
We looked at several houses before we found the one...and the house we bought was the only one we bid on.
