I was watching Fox Five and had totally forgotten about being able to see Mars this week. So FH and I ran downstairs and checked it out It's so cool. It looks like an orange star. If you haven't checked it out, you must. Just look South. The next time this will happen will be sometime in 2230 or something like that. They say the best day to view it will be tomorrow.
I sooo wish I had a telescope right now

I just showed my mom. She was really amazed that that was a planet! FH showed me it last weekend - he is totally into stars and planets. It is so amazing that it is not going to be like this again for over 200 years!

I know Georgia. When we heard it on TV, Peter and I looked at each other and said 'We have to go see it now, cause we're going to be dead the next time it happens'

No he doesnt. I think he had one that was for kids when he was younger. I was thinking of getting him a good quality one as a wedding gift. He will be totally shocked. Just have to do some research for that.

I think you'll be able to see it going into September. I actually heard on the news last night that at 5:51am on Wednesday is when you'll see it the best... not sure if I'll be up at that time though.
It's pretty cool! Looks like a huge star to me though... would be nice if I had a telescope...
thanks for the reminder...DH mentioned it...but we totally forgot...too bad that our southern view is in the direction of city lights... but hopefully we can see something

It's been pretty easy to see each clear night - it's SO bright with a bit of red tint. I remembered this about a week ago and have been looking at it each night. It's so beautiful and BRIGHT!!!

last night was pretty clear. I forgot all about it. I heard that tomorrow is the best day to see it, as long is there isnt too much light pollution

I tried looking at it this morning at 5:51 am but it was too overcast. I actually saw it over the weekend when we had the beautiful weather. It was so cool. I am sorry I don't have a telescope.
