I guess it depends on where you live but if everything is mainly on one floor, do you really need one?

We already got one and my baby isn't due until May (my SIL got 2 when her baby was born in July,so she gave us her extra one). I want it so that I can be in the basement doing laundry or in the yard on the deck and still be able to hear in the baby's room. I could probaby hear the baby without one as well, but now thast I have it, I will definitely use it.

With a bedroom closed you cannot hear the baby unless he/she is screaming. You will need one.

I got one but I stopped using it after a monh. The people acroos the street had the same one and we were constantly hearing eachother's baby cry!! It was funny at first but then it got annoying, Keep in mind my house is small. I have a 3 brm 1300 sq ft ranch so even with the door closed I can hear my son. So it is packed in a box somepleace and will eventually either go to good will or ebay!!
I have a friend who lives in a bungalow!! Here house is super super tiny!! She has 2 monitors!! 1 sound only and 1 video and sound. I think it's overkill but she uses it!!
It's about what you feel comfortable with!!

I did get two monitors. I do have a ranch home, however the master bedroom and guest bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house. I got a regular monitor for when I am outside or in the office and also got the Angel care monitor for the crib. My friends had recommended both to me so I am going by their experiences. We'll see what happens come April.

I also have a ranch, but I'm too paranoid to forego the monitor. I have 2... 1 audio and 1 video.

We have a 2 BR coop, so we don't need it here. My SIL gave me hers, we take it with us when we are at someone else's house and I put Lyla down for naps in another room.
