Did anyone else postpone due to Sept. 11th?
September 11th really hit us hard. Working in NYC, we experienced a lot of grief and didn't feel much like celebrating on our scheduled September 15th wedding. We decided to have our ceremony and a very intimate dinner with those who could make it--many family members were absent due to cancelled flights and bridge closures. Our minister was great and without us even asking gave a moment of silent prayer for those who were lost in the tragedy. So many guests thanked us for having the ceremony, and even those guest who had lost friends or loved ones were glad for the break in the sadness. We now are planning our postponed reception and hoping that most people are ready to celebrate with us and won't be so afraid to come to NY. We've already gotten some no's that were yes's before. Has anyone else had any anthrax or terrorist scared guests?

Hi MRose, My wedding is next week, and although we are very excited, we are both still in mourning. We lost a few people in The tragedy and luckily only had one or two people back out because of fear of flying. But as faqqr as anthrax goes, i 'm not afraid It really wouldn't affect me , because in my opinion, terrorists are going to target the media, and government offices, if they start with residential homes then I may start to worry. You said that you postponed your wedding? When are you going to get married ? Good Luck!

Athrax Threat
Anthrax is not a contagious disease. And in all honestly is not very easy to catch. You can print out the Q&A from CNN.com or NYTimes.com. Perhaps that would help some of your guests fears.

Postpone
Our wedding was on September 15th and we went ahead as scheduled. We were missing 5 wedding party members and about 20 guests but it was such a wonderful day despite all of that and everyone really needed to celebrate. The pastor said a brief prayer during the ceremony and at our reception we had an acapella group sing at the cocktail hour and they did a special tribute song in memory of the victims and then at the end of the reception we all sang God Bless America. We need to keep living! Celebrating is okay. It's important too. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

We went forward with our ceremony on September 15th, but we are having our reception at the end of this month. Although we are still in shock and the occassional emotional outburst, we feel enough time has passed that we can allow ourselves to enjoy a party. Best wishes to you!Welcome New Vendors
