If so, how did you go about it and who did you use to find it? TIA

I'm originally from up in that area. I used to live across the river. What are you looking for? I can ask around for you the next time I head up there.

My father lives in Poughkeepsie. Which is kind of close to the Catskills. You want to buy just land, or a house as investment property?

just make sure whatever you do that there is water available on the land. some land up there is just that..you can't build on it..i was looking into it before we got married so that was one thing i came across.

We wanted to buy land and eventually build on it later in life as a second home. We wanted someplace not too far from the city but far enough. Does that make sense?

It is so hard doing it online because I don't know any of the areas.

I'd just recommend visiting (obviously) because there are some very bad pockets of areas there...As part of my job I did lots of traveling in Ulster and Orange counties, and while there were some nice areas, there were some very, very bad areas too. My uncle just bought a home in PA by a lake...Lake Huappataugoc? Something like that? Apparently that area is really growing.
