Go to or talk to a Newspaper Photographer at one of the major newspapers to see if they would do your wedding? I hear a lot of them like to do wedding on the side or at least use to?

I sent an e-mail to a photographer who works for the Daily News. My FH got his card with his studio's e-mail address so I sent him an e-mail that went unanswered.

I've heard of this. I don't know anyone personally who did have a newspaper photographer do their wedding so I can' t say anything about experiences or anything like that. But it would save A LOT of money, that's forsure! :)

Sounds like a good idea, but I would be careful because you also want to hire someone who has experience shooting weddings and knowing which shots are important, etc. My photographer (Kenny Pang) used to work at a newspaper and specializes in photojournalism but he does mainly weddings now

My photographer has worked for the NY Times and several other wire services. She started doing wedding photography after 9/11 It's all photojournalistic though..no 'posed' pics..
