Did anyone have a bad experience with alterations?

Did anyone have a bad experience with alterations?

my seamstress is nice but i am just so upset

i dont think my dress is ever going to fit me.....she kept saying i lost weight since last time - and you want to know what - im exercising, b/c i want to look good for my honeymoon, im not going to stop - this is crunch time! she tells me im too skinny, start eating more so the dress fits - actually no, do your job and you make the dress fit me - im not going to gain weight to fit into a dress that obviously should have never been ordered for me because its way to big!!

then grief over the slip - to wear or not to wear - and now maybe they can sew it in.....but to be honest that slip ***** and i rather go out and find my own slip at this point if i am going to wear one - which i think i am because i tried it on without it last night and i think it was way to flat....

the hem was perfect without the slip - im afraid its going to be too short with the slip - and in pictures i noticed that my bustle IS lopsided and so are the way she did the pick up while making the hem - and its horrible and i hate and it needs to be fixed....

and now i have to wear 2 huge *** cups on each side to make the dress fit - and i dont want my boobs to look stupid - its like they dont want to make it fit because its to big so instead they keep shoving more cups in there and im afraid you will be able to see them sticking out the day of the wedding.....oh and the fabric is all bunchy around the bust too - and it looks horrible and cheap and htey arent sure if they can fix it

i just want to get a new dress - i hate the service there, the place is ghetto.....oh and my dress is dirty in more than one spot

there are so many things wrong with it - my FMIL was really telling the seamstress everything that needs to be done.....i just hope she can fix it all....

im just really upset b/c this is not where i wanted to get my dress, i did it b/c i could use my moms employee discount b/c she was going to pay for the dress....so since i knew that, i made sure the dress wasnt too expensive knowing she cant afford anything crazy - and she ended up not being able to pay for it in the end and FH had to buy it for me.....so basically i bought a dress that to me, was okay, nicest thing i could find for that price, at a place that is horrible....

i was so annoyed that i actually went on pre-owned sites this morning ng but of course i cant find anything in a real size 0

oye, i knew this was going to happen - i knew id have a problem because im too small.....ive been saying it from the start and everyone said no, no seamstresses can do anything, and yeah my dress looks like a$$ - it actually looks better on the hanger....

thank god i got that melisa sweet little number for the reception - i am praying it comes in beore the middle or end of november like they said - just so im not rushing around with that dress at the last minute....

i keep telling myself its ok b.c im marrying FH that day and the dress doesnt matter....but i just want to throw up

it will work out!! i had 8 fittings because they kept screwing up (and my dress had a measured length and came in 3' too short) and my seamstress was incompetent and was eventually fired but in the end my dress was perfect.

find out what your options are and be firm -- they should be able to alter anything so them telling you to gain weight is ridiculous

well im not glad you had 8 fitings, but im glad someone understands....now next time i go i hopefully will have the right slip - i think i found one i am going to order - they gave (well sold me) a one size fits all drawstring waist slip - but my waist is barely 23 inches - so yeah that aint staying up....now that i realized the bustle is crooked and that one side the pick ups are higher (in the front) i want that fixed too.....oye and then the bust and waist are huge!! i know that they have no choice to get it right, because i and my fmil will raise hell, its just i dont want to be upset this whole time worrying about it.....

Oh Nicole! I'm so sorry! I would definitely say lose the slip. I wore mine for the ceremony because it was my mom's and it was my something old. I was much more comfortable without it and it's not like you can see under the dress anyway. It will all work out but make sure you are firm with the seamstress. Tell her exactly what you want and make sure she does it. I had no problems with my alterations and I was actually surprised because I went to David's Bridal. At my first fitting though I was completely clear with her. The bustle looked terrible in the back-it was uneven and looked just bunched up and I was like no fix it. She was like its a big dress and it will never be even. I said yes it will and you need to fix it. I think she was pissed but I didn't stop until it was perfect. I wasn't a ***** but I was firm about it and she knew I wasn't going to take her excuses and crap. Good luck!!!! Plus just think you can put on the other dress later! You are marrying your FH and it will all be perfect don't worry!

Even though we are on diffrent ends of the spectrum.. I had to have my dress taken in twice!! LOL.. it is too big and I did in fact lose some more weight.
Although the people at Helen's have been great. I just left there from my second fitting. Hopefully next saturday will be my final fitting.
