Did anyone have guests that

Did anyone have guests that

attended and did not give/send a gift? This is such an awkward situation because we don't know if they were lost or how to handle? 14 guests attended and didn't and we had 7 no shows. No offense but the 'no shows' is just darn rude. We paid in full for that ahead of time.

I do not understand how people just don't show up?!!! I think it is the rudest thing someone can do to the bride and groom. I can understand things happen and maybe the day before you have to tell the couple that you can not make it, but to just not show up is SO rude to me! Even if God forbid something happens that day and you can't make it and you don't want to bother the bride or groom on their wedding day, at least tell someone else that is going so they can say to the bride and groom, 'XXX could not make it today but they wanted me to congratulate you and wish you both the best of luck,' or something. I know you won't get your money back at that point, but the money to me would not be the issue, people just not showing up without letting me know would hurt me.

We had 3 no shows (which I guess is not bad).

We had about 10 people that showed and did not give gifts; however we got three gifts on our wedding day with no names! So we are going to approach the people who didn't give gifts and ask if one of the 3 gifts is from them b/c we want to properly thank those that gave us something. It may put some guests in an akward situation (if they intentionally didn't get us a gift) but I could care less b/c it is rude to attend a wedding and not give anything (even a card!). JMHO.

Yes we had both. We also had a check that bounced.... there is really nothing you can do about it. We will be sending them thank you's to the non-gifters and check bouncers that only say 'thank you for sharing in our special day' I am hoping that if something got lost or wasa an oversight, this will let them know. Otherwise there is nothing you can do. I am just happy they were there to spend the day with us. As for the no-shows, well they don't get a thank you. Why would I send them anything?

we had 5 no shows - 2 of them sent a gift. IMO that still does not make up for the fact that they didn't even call to let us know they weren't coming. I think that is the rudest thing ever (unless there is an emergency, which I would totally understand) this wasn't the case with any of our no shows.

We had one person come and not give a gift - one of my BM's who said she was going to send something, but I doubt she will.

Re: Did anyone have guests that

we had 8 no shows - which is frustrating because its financially burdensome and SOO rude and we had 14 who attended and didn't give a gift. I know gifts are not expected but at least a card so we're not left wondering if something were lost etc... I mean some of these people asked us if they could bring a guest and we said yes - you just don't do that in my opinion. everyone knows how expensive weddings are today...

I had multiple problems. People who didn't show (family!!), people who showed that weren't invited, and people who attended and didn't give a gift. It was something that I didn't even think of on my wedding day but when we got back and looked at gifts, I noticed. My MOH never gave me a gift for the wedding. I would think she would remember! LOL

Re: Did anyone have guests that

i could deal a little better if it weren't so many but 8 no-shows is alot of $ to me. What did you do about the people that showed up without being invited. The nerve of some people!!!

How does someone show up w/out something? I dont understand I would be so embarrassed!

Re: Did anyone have guests that

AND ask if they can bring a guest and come with the guest ... why bother bringing a perfect stranger guest at our expense! and another said they were bringing a date then showed up solo -

I had a guest tell me that he left his checkbook at home and would give my father our gift.

My wedding was 9 months ago....... Anyway, it really doesn't matter to me, we were just happy to have shared our day with everyone.

Personally, i think its tacky. I'm shocked it would even happen. I was raised where you don't go to someone's home, event etc. empty-handed. An empty card to say thanks for hosting me would be better than nothing... Aside from that, my parents have made me paranoid into thinking they could have been stolen or lost...

People can be so rude. My brother had one not give him a gift, and each time we see him he apologizes and make the family feel uncomfortable... he will get the gift soon, he promises (it's over a year). So that there is no issue, I am not going to invite him to the wedding. I feel bad, but I know that he will make a scene about not giving the other gift.
