Did anyone here just figure out they can't GET UV Nails?
I had SUCH problems when I went to get mine, that now I'm giving up and letting them just come off. I was going to try to upkeep them until the wedding, but I had to keep going back every other day because they were lifting, peeling, chipping, etc. And I tried 2 different places!
Maybe UV just isn't for me? Should I just do acrylic?
Any opinions?

I was just posting about nails yesterday. My nails are horrible and I wanted to get the UV for the wedding because I hear it is so great. But now I don't know because you had a bad experience. I was going to go soon to get the UV nails because someone else mentioned that I should get used to them first.

I have UV Gel Nails and they are great! They are less harsh on your real nails than acrylic. My real nails are long, but I would have to go to the nail salon every week to get them done because the nail polish did not last as long on my real nails. Since I was traveling alot this summer, I decided to get gel tips over my nails and I only have to go every three weeks. The lady I go to is in Canarsie, Brooklyn and she is great!

No question is stupid on this topic. I am so clueless when it comes to this stuff.

I don't know much about UV nails-- I have seen them on others and they looked nice but from what Sarah is saying it sounds like they are not as 'strong' as the acrylic. I have never had a problem with acrylic (I get forever french) and even when I have them taken off my nails are not that bad-- they are not 'themselves' for a week or so but then they go back to normal. I think forever french holds up GREAT, from my experience.

OMG - I have tried every type of artificial nail and NOTHING stays more than a few days, I was going to try UV, b/c that is the only one haven't tried yet!! Now I am so confused - every nail has come off within days - nothing will last throughout the honeymoon!!
Re: Did anyone here just figure out they can't GET UV Nails?
Everyone's nails are different. I would say that the reason why those of you can't use artificial nails is because of the oils you secrete. Yes, you do secrete oils in your nailbeds! Unfortunately, the only thing I can suggest is to go natural and try nailtiques. On sale this week at CVS.
Hisandhers110406- I would try the UV nails and see what happens. Maybe bc they use the light it may work out better for you.
Sarah- have you tried other places? I was having huge problems with silk wraps and then I switched places and found a great place in Oceanside that does UV nails. It's called Angel Tips and I go to Annie. It took me 37 years to finally find the perfect nail salon!
Good Luck ladies!

UV gels are the new way of doing permanent french and for the most part peole love them, but just as some people do not wear silk wraps or acryllic nails well, uv gels are not for everyone. They really do look great though and they stay great for the majorty of customers who try it. They should require less maintainence than the other types of artificial nails.

Re: Did anyone here just figure out they can't GET UV Nails?
UV nails worked great for me. I used to go to this place by my house (West Babylon) but the guy who used to do them quit & the one time I let the other woman do them they looked DISGUSTING!! I never went back there again. I have not been able to find a place on Long Island that works with UV Nails. If anyone knows of a place that does in Suffolk /Nassau county please let me know...I cannot stand having acrylic nails after having had UV nails for so long.

Re: Did anyone here just figure out they can't GET UV Nails?
The first place I went to, I had to go back three times in the first week because two nails came off and two other nails had the UV chip off completely.
I went to another place for a fill in and they used what looked like a stronger glue, but the same two nails were lifting at the base.
Now I'm just ignoring my nails and letting the nails come off. It's not worth the money!
IF I discover some place that has GOOD quality supplies that will make my nails look great and LAST for the wedding and honeymoon, then I'll do it, but there's no need to spend the money through Sept. and Oct for my Nov. 12th wedding, ya know. I really wanted it for my Bridal Shower, which has passed, so now I'll just go au naturale!

Sounds like they just didn't do a good job at it. I would just go back and get them to refund your payment. I would just try acrylic.
