Did anyone hire someone to assist them dressing and 'follow' them?
I'm trying to say bridal attendant.
I went to my bridal salon today, and I'm going to pay (it's not that expensive) the seamstress who did all my alterations and a saleswoman at the salon to come to my house the morning of the wedding assist me in dressing, they'll be with me all day until the end of the reception, and even assist me in getting out of my dress and properly storing it.
They will take care of the bustle, so my BMs don't have to (they're all freaking because everyone is out of state, and has never done a bustle, so they can't even watch how it's done).
They will also have everything you could possibly need if something went wrong, ie. zipper breaks, something snags, stains, etc.
Kind of like Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner, but they're not coordinating the entire wedding.
I'm definately doing it. If anyone wants any info., just FM me.

FLowerfield actually has a bridal attendant to be with you during the reception, but I'd rather have my own people from the very salon where I bought the dress, with the seamstress that altered the dress. I'm also excited, because these women have really helped me out when I was freaking that the dress didn't fit properly (before alterations), so it'll be nice for them to be there for the final product and wedding!

Wow, that's great. I am going to just trust the assistant at Flowerfield. I have heard from other brides that they are wonderful. I am soo happy that they have a steamer. I'm sure I will be wrinkled by the time I get there. Good Luck!!

I actually know one of Flowerfield's bridal assistant's...Rosemary, she is so sweet and so wonderful.
I may just have the outside attendants work until the reception, and have Rosemary take it from there...I'm not sure yet. It's not much more to have them stay the whole day than just half, so I may have three attendants...I'm going to feel like a princess!

I just thought I'd use the bridal assistant that the reception hall is having there. I guess I'll see what happens after fittings...

For my first wedding I had the seamstress at the reception hall so she could fix anything that went wrong or got stained and to bussle me after our first dance. She was with me for about 2 hours. Definately worth it if you think your going to have bussle problems. There is nothing worse than walking around all night with the bussle falling out.

My mom & MOH came with me for my dress fitting & learned how to do up my dress. I also have a french inverted bustle that is done with ties instead of buttons, so not only is it stronger (less chance of slipping or breaking) but it is easier for them to do!
My aunt is a seamstess, so she will have supplies if I, heaven forbid, have a tear.
My dress is a Maggie Sotero (DON'T ASK...the Vera Wang looked horrible on me) and is a corset dress, so there are no zippers to mess with!
I think it could be a good service though!

Mine is also a french bustle with the ties (the ties are color coded).
I have to get back to all my FMs about this!

How did you know to do that? Oh, didn't you say you work in the fashion industry?
When the seamstress told me she was going to color code the ties, I said she was a genious!!!! I would've never thought of that!!!!

Someone mentioned a steamer. It's a really great idea, but I would rather have a new one sent over to the caterer the day before just in case, rather than use one that's been around for years. If you don't use it you can certainly return it to the store afterwards. You don't know how long it's been sitting with water in it, and mineral build-up can come spewing out. If nothing else, have a white tablecloth or something available to really test it on before putting it to your gown. Oh, and they sometimes do spurt out water. I would check in an inconspicuous area first to be sure that it doesn't stain your fabric. (Sorry, if I'm stating the obvious. I've been know to do that - comes from teaching 3 grade for lots and lots of years.)
