So, there is less than 3 weeks to the wedding and our response date was Sept. 1. FH had his bach. party this weekend and his friends invited one of their friends that they used to hand out with in HS. We didn't invite him to the wedding because FH doesn't stay in constant contact with him so we thought it would be weird to send him an invite. So at the bach. party this guy sounded like he was upset that he wasn't invited and he thought that FH was mad at him or something. He did not specifically say anything about not being invited but that's the feeling FH got. (BTW, I still don't know why his friends would invite someone to his bach. party that they know is not invited to the wedding but anyway....) Now FH feels bad because we didn't invite him and we would like for him to come. How can we invite him at this point? My coworker said that he has gotten last minute invites and even last minute verbal invites and he didn't care because he wanted to go to the weddings. How bad is it if FH calls him and asks him to come. If we send him an invite at this point, it is obvious that he was a last minute invite. What would you do?

Re: Did anyone invite someone really late?
Is there any way to play dumb and seem surprised that he did not, um, 'get his invite?'

We don't have his address because he has moved fairly recently. I don't think that we could get away with that. Plus, FH is a really bad liar!

Re: Did anyone invite someone really late?
Hahaha - we did this. My husband (hehee) is famously known for being one of 'those' guys that you just have to laugh at b/c he has no tact whatsoever. He had me sending out e-mails overnight up until I believe 3 weeks before! I made sure he called these people ahead of time though and pretend to be asking why they haven't resonded ('just checking to see if you are coming to the wedding as we haven't gotten your response card and need to give the hall a head count.....' These were people hubbie wanted to invite but forgot to tell me etc. Its always a tricky one though b/c you know they are going to think they are on the C list! I am also famously known for being LATE to everything so I used the 'oh my god, I am sooo behind in sending out my invites.... what's your address?' It worked.
edited to say: i also got caught in one of those awkward scenarios at work where one co-worker said to another right in front of me 'did you get your invite yet?' - that other co-worker wasn't on the invite list so of course she didn't get it! But I had to suck it up and tell her I hadn't sent them all yet and 'what's your address?' THAT one was bad - she laughed - very obvious.

Re: Did anyone invite someone really late?
just ask him - i have gotten invites the week of the wedding and honest if you want to go it shouldnt be a big deal - if he asks explain that you didnt think he would come - or whatever it was that made you not invite him - i am sure he will understand and come if he really wants to

Re: Did anyone invite someone really late?
Just invite this person, it's okay, I invited someone the week before the wedding, I verbally expressed my desire for them to attend and explained that I knew it was not much notice and if the person really wants to share this moment with you, they will gladly come and not think anything of it.
