Hi all, I am considering making my own chuppah, have any of you done this? If you did could you post a pic of it? I am especially interested in knowing if anyone bought white fabric and painted some kind of design on it and how it came out. Also if you know where I can find directions on how to make a chuppah. TIA I can't wait to hear from all of you!

Re: Did anyone make their own Chuppah?
I wish I had enough talent to do this. My sister is needlepointing my nephews Tallit and Tefillin bag - a Chuppah is simply too large of an undertaking to needlepoint. I would love to copy my moms Chuppah from her wedding album except that it was in black and white. I would look online to find out if there are any 'rules' in regard to size or what not. I once had the idea of giving everyone I know a same sized piece of fabric to decorate and put together like a quilt but none of them are artistic enough. Maybe you can do something like that. Good luck!

WOW! you must be very artistic!
The Swan Club rents their chuppah and other flowers for the ceremony for $300. Unless you're getting married in a Synagogue.
Good luck

Mine will be done by my florist. My stick figures don't even resemble people, so making my own has never been an option.

My mother in law did ours. She had the border sewn on and then decorated it herself, I think with colored glue. It's beautiful!
I don't think there are rules about size, i think it just can't be a permanent structure and it can't be a tree or all flowers, etc.
Once again i'm going to dip into the research I did in college.
The huppah should be a temporary, handmade canopy. A canopy of only flowers or a tree will not serve as a kosher huppah. There are no other requirements for the shape and size of a huppah. Increasingly, couples are using a large tallis as a huppah, feeling that marrying under tzitzit is an affirmation of shared Jewish life (Diamant 98-99
I cited Anita Diamant's 'The New Jewish Wedding' 2nd edition, I believe

did anyone buy a chuppah from mpartworks.com??
I showed it to my florist, she said she could provide the poles decorated with flowers for about $100 additional.
