did anyone not put ...

'adult reception' or anything to that effect on the invite but is not inviting kids to the reception?

my mom just asked me how i'm planning to handle this and i got a little panicked. I invited people as 'Mr & MRS. so and so' I was hopinh that if it didn't say 'and family' they'd get it.

I didn't have anything in my invites that alluded to an adult reception and didn't invite children. I actually meant to but forgot I already had notified my parents and sister that was what I wanted in case anyone asked. I only had a problem w/ one family member that was insistent on bringing their child, luckily my parents handled that. You would think that if you only address it to certain people they would get the hint...but as we see here on the boards so often, some just don't get it

we are having adults only - there arent that many kids and i didnt want to have it written on the invitation, so it doesnt say anything - we just addressed everything as 'Mr. & Mrs. so and so' - my FH already said he has no problem calling people and telling them that their kid was not invited and that they cannot come - im hoping that doesnt happen but im sure there will be at least one person ugh ill be so pissed if there is a kid there - ill kick them out for some reason they just bother me - whatever im evil and i know it

ets: since we got engaged we and our parents have kind of been spreading the word that the wedding will be for adults only

I didnt....if an invite says for example 'The Smith Family' that means the kids if it says 'Mr & Mrs Smith' that means no kids....right?

I didn't but I only included the kids names on the invite when they were invited.

We didn't. My mom elected herself the 'no-child' police and just told people to leave their kiddies at home.

eta: We only put the adults names on the invite.

i didn't put adult reception on mine, but i did make the reply cards so they read:

____ seats have been reserved in your honor.

And I will fill in the number for each person. I am hoping that solves any problems before they start.

I didn't write adult reception, just didn't add'and family. I never thought it would be an issue, but I was wrong. I don't think it will matter either way, people are rude and will do what they want anyway.

I used 'Adults Only' and still had calls from people wanting to know why their kids weren't invited I think that its personal preference if you include it or not.

we didnt write it on the invite but invited
'mr and mrs smith'

and also put
'2 seats have been reserved in your honour'
on the response card

and we told all our parents the situation so they would be prepared to handle anyone who called to ask

I didn't invite kids and the ones that I did I included their names on the inside envelope. Someone called and asked if they could bring thier 5 y.o. and I just told them that there are no kids and if I let them I would need to let everyone bring their kids. And she totally understood.

We didn't....we're just inviting immediate family with kids...like our nieces and nephews. Other than that we didn't think it was necessary. Hopefully we won't have too many issues.

that is going to be our excuse as well - but its true though - what you do for one you should do for all...i still hope we dont have to deal with any calls - i can really only think of one person who might try to bring their kid though

Re: did anyone not put ...

i just addressed invites to 'Mr. & Mrs.'

I also had a line on the RSVP:

__ of __ wil attend

and i filled in the second line with how many people were invited

for example: __ of 2 will attend

this way people knew I only reserved 2 seats for them (and not their kids)

but i STILL got calls from people about bringing their kids.

I did not write anything to the effect of 'adults only' On the inner envelopes it says Mr. and Mrs or Doctor and Mr. The only children invited are our nieces and nephews - My brother has 7 yr. old twins and a 4 yr old and my other brother has a 7 yr.old they are our rb & fg FBIL's daughter will be 13 months old.

We are really lucky and are inviting only a few couples with young children.

At my shower last week, one of the guests said she was so excited to have a night without the kids! If you're not traveling, it does seem easiest to leave them at home (and more fun).
