Was talking with my parents yesterday who seem to think that registering is rude because it's like you EXPECT people to spend X dollars and buy what YOU want rather than it being a gift and celebration about getting married. On the other hand, they understood the perk about not getting double and about getting things that are in line with your taste.... I don't know.... what do you think?
We are litearlly going to be starting out with NOTHING - we both live at home currently and I'm finishing up graduate school, so it's not like we have apartments and need to make sure we don't get bedding or pots or something, ya know? ANYTHING would be a help....
Hmmmm.... TIA

Re: Did anyone NOT register? (xp, BHB)
I would say now a days people expect you to register. It is so easy to shop for someone. I could care less how much things are on peoples registry, and I don't think it is rude at all for people to register. What I usually do is go to the store with an idea on how much I won't to spend. I find things on the list that are in my price range, and that is what I buy.
If you don't register, you might get duplicates and things you didn't even want.

Re: Did anyone NOT register? (xp, BHB)
When we first got engaged I felt weird about registering for the same reason. Well, people waited to give us engagement gifts until we registered because they wanted to get us something we actually wanted. I think some people actually never got us a gift b/c we waited for so long. People do no think it's rude. The gifts and your shower are still about a celebration and your wedding. And if people want to buy you something not on your registry, they certainly can.
