I usually never wear makeup and when I do, FH prefers that I didn't. I was just wondering if there was anyone who did not, or are considering not wearing makeup for their wedding. If anything, I'd only wear fake lashes because mine are thin and some lip gloss, but that's all I'd really want to wear. I don't want to look too washed out in pics or anything though. Any thoughts?

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
this is exactly what e-pics are for!
when you get your e-pics, wear the lashes and the gloss, and see how they look. If you look a bit washed out, maybe change it to a tinted gloss and a bit of bronzer....
definitely don't tart yourself up with lots of make-up if you never wear make-up. It's most important for the pics to look like you, FH to love the way you look, and for you to feel comfortable...

Im in a similar boat.... I never wear make-up and if i do its a bit of mascara... I really gotta think about think cuz i don't wanna pay to get makeup on if i never wear it. I'm thinking maybe just some mascara and eyeshadow.... but i still got some time to think about it.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
Are you having professional photography? I'll be completely honest - I think you will need some makeup. The flash alone can wash you out completely. And if you have any imperfections (and most of us do) they will really show in pro pics.
Obviously it's most important for you to feel comfortable on your day, so follow your instincts, but I would at least go for a makeup trial, let them know that you don't wear makeup and don't feel comfortable in makeup, but that you don't want to look washed out in pictures, want lashes, etc. A great makeup artist will make you look beautiful AND natural. I would suggest airbrush makeup as an option - when I had it on, you could NOT tell I had anything on at all and it didn't feel like I had anything on. But it perfected my skin! A little blush in a natural color would be great too and some definition in the eyes. It definitely does NOT have to be much, but I'd at least try it out.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
here is my honest opinion:
I wear makeup every day but not much. . .so i used my 'every day' make up for my e pics - take a look they are in my album - it looks like i had NO makeup on! i was so sad and i look washed out - i look pale and i am NOT pale at all
i was wearing bronzer, blush and eyeshadow! i think your best bet is to use just a little make up so you photograph well!

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
I agree about doing e-pics with your regular make up to test it out, thats a great idea.
but ill be honest that flashwill wash you out...here is one thing..when a person wears no foundation or anything on their face but puts lipstick on or even eye make up this alone will start washing you out and it shows the imperfections a bit more. Even regular pics when i have NO make up on it really washes me out and it will be even more so with a photographers camera.
But I know that until you see evidence you wont realize this. So that is why i agree with the e-pics comment, take your pics with your everyday make up and see what you think of it

Your pics will look like you're pale and washed out if you dont have anything. Go for a natural look at your make-up trial and see how you feel.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
In all honesty, I think you should wear some make-up.
Professional photography will wash you out, which is why when make-up artists do your make-up they usually ask what the ocassion is for and stuff. The flash used by professional photography will be stronger and make people usually look paler than what they are and their cameras can and will usually bring out any flaws that may be there.
E-pics are a great way to test this out and see how you like the pictures without much make-up. If you do choose to have make-up on, you still don't need much--play up your eyes and contour the face a bit more and swipe some lipstick on. You'd be surprised at how 'natural' you can look with make-up on in professional pictures.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
i know what you mean. i hate wearing makeup and barely wear it ever...but as the other ladies said---you need SOME makeup on you besides just lashes & lip gloss on the big day. your professional photographer's equipment will be so advanced, that then they take shots, it will magnify your face in such detail--that you will look all 'washed out' in the pics. you do NOT want that
again, like the other posters, have e-pics done with a professional photographer and see how your face looks....and judge from there

I usually do not wear a lot of makeup either. but, in my opinion, you should look special on your wedding day and at least wear some makeup. Especially since the flash from the camera will probably wash out your features. If you have time, maybe go for a makeup trial or experiment with makeup to find a makeup look that you feel comfortable with.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
I don't really wear much makeup day to day and DH always hates it when there is too much. My makeup for the wedding was very natural and looked great in the pics. NOt only will you be washed out from the flash, but also remember that you will be dressed extremely formally, will have your hair done, etc. Without makeup, I really think your look won't be complete.

I think it is necessary. Perhaps you can go for the 'natural look' but you should wear some b/c you don't want any regrets in terms of pics. xoxo

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
I'm getting e-pics done so I will try it out then. It didn't even occur to be to use that opportunity as a trial run. Thanks so much for suggestion ladies! I'm naturally tan and get very dark in the summer. I don't wash out in normal pics, but I'm afraid of that happening in professional shots. I hope it works out!

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
Honestly, you really DO need to wear makeup. You can go with a very natural look, but you need makeup for the pictures -- at the very least powder. If your face comes out with a glare (aka shiny), it is very expensive to retouch. I agree with the suggestion to try your e-pics first to see how they come out - but I would suggest at least a little makeup.

Re: Did anyone not wear makeup?
I agree that you do need makeup b/c you will look washed out on film. I work on photo shoots and those models you see in magazines with the 'natural look'--barely there makeup actually takes quite a bit of work. You'll want a flawless complexion (and this doesn't have to mean caked-on, heavy makeup), a little blush, lashes and a sheer tinted gloss. Tear out some pics in a magazine of these types of looks and be very adamant with the makeup artist that you're going for a natural look.
