the heat comes up A LOT in my apartment during the night which could be nice at times but sometimes is way to much plus is making my skin sooo dry and my lips are always cracked.
so will a humidifier help with this> and did you register for one?? you think a small one will serve the purpose?

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
i am guessing you do not control your own thermostat. the problem with humidifiers are that they can cause dust mites & mold, which are not good for you to be breathing in. if i was in your situation i would either, ask my landlord to lower the temp at night or just sleep with a window open.

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
we registered for 1 and we just started using it. honestly.. im not AS stuffy.. but this place is sooo dry.. like, u wake up thinking ur really sick with strep throat lol
we put it on thecontinuous mode which means once it reaches a certain level , it automatically shuts off..
yea.. it hasnt shut off yet lol THATS how dry it is. ( 87 degrees at alll times, even with windows open)
get one.. if u dont like it, return it. thats the BBB way

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
i live in an apartment building so i cant ask them to turn it down
but i never really knew about the dustmites...i think i did hear about the mold issue but i see ones out that say they are antimicrobial and dont allow any of that stuff so if thats true, maybe that would be the way to go.

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
This is such a good idea! I didn't even think about it and I know I need one. I get nosebleeds all the time in the winter. Thanks

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
I did, but I played cello for most of my life, and I've grown accustomed to being around 10 humidifiers at a time (string players need them so that their instruments don't crack).

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
We registered for one too and thank you Barbs for what you wrote. We are SO excited that it's even on the list but we REALLY hope we get one. It's SO dry in the apartment. I did hear to put a small bowl under the heater if you can and it will help put some moisture in the air until you get a humidifier.

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
a humidifier will help....we have the same problem in our apartment since we can't control the heat. i was waking up everyday with a sore throat and just feeling super dry. We bought a humidifier (a cheap one at walmart) and it definitely helps

We have a dehumidifier for the basement, but I never thought of having a humidifier for our bedroom, I think I might add this to our list!!

I didn't register for one because I already have one. You do have to make sure that you keep it clean- but it helps with dry skin and nasal congestion.

Re: did anyone register for a humidifier?
I use one a Vicks one and it helps a little. I had the same problems with headache, dry skin and lips. I don't know how well it works but I saw one in Brookstones this weekend and it was advertising that it was a 'clean' humidifier. The description said it was mold resistant but not sure how legit that is...
